The first time I saw a video of PSP on youtube I thought I'll get it someday. After regularly reading about it here and in other such sites I got so faccinated by the PSP scene that I fianlly shelled almost my whole month salery ( for those who are wondering how well thats how much I make in india.. I knw its funny, SAD but TRUE ) anyways....
So after reading so much about Firmwares, exploits, CSO, XMB....and so on....I am so confused what to do with mine. I have loads of ISO's with me also but cant play.

Here is what I have..
A phat PSP with FW 3.51 ( mobo - IC1003, model - PSP1004 )
I have the C-D tool as well as the recently came out DAX unversal downgrader.

Kindly tell me what to do..!
what should I use to downgrade to 1.5 the C-D tool or the DAX thingy.
Which FW should I go for 3.52M33-4 or 3.71M33 with the 1.5 kernal patch.
Also one confusion is Do i first need to goto some other CFW from 1.5 or directly I can goto 3.52M33-4 or 3.71M33.

One more doubt is while going for 3.71M33 in the second step it says " Download 1.50, 3.40 and 3.71 update eboots and copy them to ms root with 150.PBP, 340.PBP and 371.PBP names." where will I get those...??
I have a friend who got his PSP downgraded when he went to australia so he mite lend me that but is there any other way I can make a PB.

I know I have put a lot of questions and seem a BIG BIG NOOB ( I am no doubt ... lol ) but I just tried to be natural and type as they came in my head.
All the help appreciated.

Cheers...!

The only option you have is using the Pandora battery method. You will need a PSP that has 1.50 or custom firmware already installed on the PSP to create the Pandora Battery(If your friend has a 1.50 or CFW PSP ask him to help create the Pandora battery for you)

HERE is a guide on how to create the Pandora Battery.

The reason you can't use your PSP to create the Pandora Battery is because you need to run unsigned code to hack the battery. Official PSP firmware will not allow you to run unsigned code.

First of all my bow down to you I was not hoping some one so senior like you would reply to my stupid noob thread.
Thanks thanks thanks..!

Only one more help...regarding which firmware shud I go for and how..? and which method to use to goto 1.5 the C-D or the universal debricker by DAX.

and where I can get those downloads that dax mentioned..in the universal debricker?

Cheers...!

For now, leave your firmware how it is. Find a friend or somebody on the net who will downgrade your psp (pm if you need to find people) or even create a pandora battery as well as magic mem stick. After that, you can safely downgrade to 1.5, then install the custom firmware of your choice. I as well as many others recommend 3.52 m33. The universal downgrader can be found at http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=81532

Use the guide I posted above. It has all the links that you will need to downgrade your 3.71 FAT PSP to 1.50 firmware.

Then use this mini-guide to update to 3.52 M33-4 CFW after downgrading to 1.50 firmware...

3.52 M33 HERE

3.52 M33-4 HERE

3.52 firmware HERE

1.50 firmware HERE

Download the 3.52 M33 CFW linked above. Extract the file.

Download both the 1.50 and 3.52 firmware. You need to re-name the 3.52 firmware to 352.PBP the 1.50 firmware to 150.PBP. Then add them to the M33CREATOR folder.

Now copy the M33CREATOR folder and the kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders to the PSP MS directory of ms0:/PSP/GAME folder.

Now go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the KXploit Permanent Patcher. It should run and say patched successfully and reboot back to the XMB.

Now go to game Menu Memory Stick and run the M33CREATOR.

After you run the M33CREATOR it should reboot back to the XMB. It should have created a 3.52 M33 update which you need to select in the Game Menu Memory Stick.

It will flash the files to the PSP and you should be at 3.52 M33 firmware. If it is then format your MS.

Now extract the 3.52 M33-4 update.

Drag the PSP folder that is in the update M33-4 into the root of the MS overwriting the files when it asks you to. Now go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the m33-4 update. This will only take a few seconds.

After the update is finished check and make sure it says 3.52 M33-4 for firmware. If it does say 3.52 m33-4 then format the MS 1 more time.

You are now updated to 3.52 M33-4.

Ok now I feel much motivated ..I will certainly tell my frnd to carry his PSP to office tommorow and My cubicle tommorow is Gonna be a PSP downgrading station.

I downloaded the Pandora creator from this link as others are blocked by firewall here in my office :
http://download.qj.net/Pandora-s-Box-Eas...14414/catid/193

However I was wondering If i will be able to play my ISO's without a UMD inside..?
I bought a PSP value pack it only had a battery (1800mh),PSP,charger and thats it.
I was also curious that If i will be able to use custom themes & icons.
something U wont belive a Fat PSP is around $200 & a UMD around $35. Also for downgrading a guy takes $30 here in India.

1.Soony has a 9660 implemented driver (3.52 m33), no need for a umd

2.That battery will be fine, you can convert it back to a normal battery after downgrading your psp. You can even use it as a pandora and normal battery, this is more advanced though

3.Guano is awesome at theme's, I will let him handle that.

@Larry

You knew your stuff from the beginning, just needed a little motivation to leave SE! We all appreciate your help!

@Guano

Ok cool :) Chat later!

That is an easy installer, which will work fine. I do not like easy installer's, but that is just my personal preference.

Help Help..... I am unable to download the 3.52M33-4 from that link. It keeps saying please wait loading link. Is there any alternate link. Remember I told you about that friend of mine I think he's scared of giving me his PSP, hoping I might brick it. He's saying he'll get it tommorow. He has 3.52 on his PSP after downgraded so do i need to take any precautious steps before making my magic stick and pandora battery...?

Cheers...!

Shouldn't be anything additional you need to do for the Pandora setup, aside from the normal preparations. Just read carefully. And don't worry about 3.52-4; I'm still on 3.52-3. It's not really completely necessary.

Have fun.

Okey guys I made a bit of progress -

I got my friends PSP which is a 3.40 OE-A to downgrade mine which is 3.71 OFW.
I was trying to create a Pandora battery and magic memory stick
and I got this error message -
"write error"
Is it because I have fake MSPduo. when i check information in magic gate it says not supported. I have two MSPduo 2gb and 4gb both fake and both came up with same error ....Do I need a genuine MSPduo to make a magic stick...?

I feel like i am just moments away to see 3.52-4 in my system information.

Cheers...!
