Okay just wanted to see who might still be on an old firmware (like me) and are debating updating to get the full OEM support and options available. I am still running 1.32 FW on my PS3 and am SERIOUSLY thinking of updating as the scene has really shown no promise for hacking an older FW? Anyone agree/disagree I would love to hear it...

I am on 1.93. I don't think there is going to be a good hack for awhile yet, and even when there is with the cost of a Blu Ray burner and the media for it I don't see it being feesible for me to jump on board for at least a year or two. I still have my PS2 for PS2 and PSX backups. And if we did see a swap magic or a mod chip the firmware shouldn't affect that. The only thing I could see firmware affecting would be running games from an external HDD, but it doesn't seem like that will be happneing ASAP. Hoepfully they will find ways to downgrade anyway. On a side note, the functionality the updates add are more then worth it, IMHO.

Yeah i have the latest firmware... i really dont see any hacks coming anytime soon... plus i love playing resistance and rainbow six: vegas online

Im running 1.93 aswell, I see no point in waiting for hacks that may or may not happen, besides we dont know what version there might be a hack for so theres no reason to keep it as low of a version as possible because of false hope. And besides like mperagine said its proboly going to be a modchip and the firmware wont effect it.

1.90 too lazy to keep hooking up the router .are there any differences from 1.90 to what is at the moment ?
psp 2.71 to some m firmware
ps3 60 gig ,now with internal 320 gig
2x 1tb ext hdd for you know what

No, not really just adjustments were made to make warhawk run more efficiently if I'm not mistaken.

See my conundrum is that I am waiting on my custom painted PS3 (won in a contest) to get here so I could have that one updated at all times and have the one I have now on 1.32 just in case....but I don't know when I will be receiving it (been 3 months already) with a best guess estimate of when I will receive the custom one as far out as Jan. '08! So I am itching to play online and have all the good stuff available to me but I know once I update a hack will come out or the one I won will arrive (that's how it always is too). I dunno I guess I will wait a bit longer until games like GT Prologue, MGS4 or Killzone 2 etc. actually release. Then if I don't have it by then I will have no choice but to upgrade to play.

I am on the original firmware that the PS3 came with. The only game I have is Resistance. After that I haven't seen any other games that I feel I need to buy. I'm not waiting for a hack I just haven't updated.

I updated because I also use my PS3 as a media center, so the upscaling and other added functionalities were a must for me. If I had anothe rone on the way I could see trying to hold out.

I'm on the latest one (whatever it is). All the latest goodies (as pointed out by other posters) are a must. Plus, I love downloading all the online content available.
Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

I'm on the latest. I don't understand what's the point of staying on a firmware since you can't log on to PSN without updating. And there are no hacks availiable so... no reason NOT to upgrade.

I want PSN access and I doubt someone would release a hack that just worked on lower firmware since so few could use it. I could see staying low a few months after PS3 launched, but it's been almost a year now.

1.93. I started out with 1.50. I got sick of doing the proxy server and firmware bypass, especially since I started using wireless on my PS3. I can't be bothered with DNS and IP junk anymore. Plus, there have been some good features in the latest updates, like wallpaper and forced 24Hz for Blu-ray movies.

i have 1.93
i bought the starter pack with resistance + motorstorm + 2 controllers
and the ps3 had firmware 1.70 but i upgraded to play online
if one day someone hacks the ps3 i will decide then what to do for now i will keep updating i'm going to buy pro evolution soccer 08 and i really want to play online with pes08

OMG.... how can u have a PS3 and not play on-line what do u used it 4? holding the window open at night so it won't slam close? Okay.... STEP 1 - go to ur PS3 and update it STEP 2 - d-load Tekken online STEP 3 - send me an invite so I can whoop you for having a dinosaur all this time....

when i bought the ps3 it had fw 1.50 but i wanted to play online and download demos n that....so iv upgraded it to 1.93 since march
i didnt buy a bundle pack...i bought the ps3 on its own and got motorstorm seperate...it came to £465 but i was happy coz i got it on the day :D 23rd or march and 7:45 i think,
and the shop i got it from had to close at 7:30 but they stayed open..and there was no 1 and i mena no1 in the shop when i got it...prob 1 person...how lucky was i
no queing up for hours ...jus in and out in 10mins

got one game .resistence .had sonic, straight swap .whenever i play online i last 2 mins killed by a lurker .me dead now .why play if all i get is dead and somebodies score is going up .
maybe i am just shit at this game .

1.82 or something my internet is too slow too keep updating... plus i just use as a media centre now
