If the recovery menu doesnt show up then it is not a "semi-brick", its bricked. You need a pandoras battery and magic mem stick. Now i know you created one didnt ya? If not find a friend with a custom fw enabled psp and go check this tread out. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/552549

Phat PSP 1->MS Slot Dead.RIP
PSP SLIM->3.60->3.71->And with a lil bit of MAGIC->3.71M33->3.71M33-2->3.71M33-3->3.90M33->3.90M33-2->4.01M33-2

dude, if it's semi-brick then recovery would work...if you have semi-brick then pandora isn't required...this is a brick.while he started an upgrade it just froze.but because he was starting an upgrade app, it will brick if you closed the psp.so he switched it off...and BRICK!

WARNING TO EVERY DUDE!::

IF YOU START AN UPGRADE APP AND THEN CLOSE THEN YOU'RE DEAD...WELL UNLESS YOU PUSH THE R TRIGGER AND GET OUT OF THE UPGRADE.

* 1800mAh Lithium Polymer cell for use in original PSP consoles

Please note: The TOOL functionality is hard-coded into this battery to put the PSP into service mode. This functionality cannot be disabled.

NOT RECOMMENDED:
Only comes as a battery with the instructions "This battery will unbrick any PSP once run with unique software".
The software does not come with the battery.
Buy a PSP battery and use that one to make the Pandora or just use your own and convert it back into a normal battery afterwards.

Its Pretty much the same as The Pandora Battery. all you need is to find Pandora's Box GUI and that will set up the memory card

stick with normal battery and use a custom firmware psp. you can use the battery normally once your done, unlike the datel tool battery. if you're gonna get a new battery, get a higher capacity.

best way to upgrade is on the psp only. copy all the files needed onto the memory stick.

if it's a semi-brick, use THIS recovery folder. place it in the ms0:\psp\game folder, go into recovery mode, and choose "run program at /psp/game/recovery/eboot.pbp

if it's a full brick, then pandora's battery is needed.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Im on your side, makes me sick to see companies profiting for things that were created for free use. Oh well, what can we do. Think I read a while back the utility battery is around $30, which isn't that bad if you really think about it. A lot of people go the 2 battery route, so I guess it might be worthwhile for the truly lazy.

REQUIREMENTS :
1) A spare PSP battery (recommended) , any make will do .

2) A spare memory stick PRO DUO (it has to be PRO DUO)

3) A PSP with Custom firmware ( OE or M33) or a 1.5 PSP. Ask you friends , search for one

INSTALLATION :
1) Take out the 1.5 or Custom firmware PSP ( OE or M33) and put in the spare memorystick (it has to be pro duo) and spare battery that you wanna modify .

2)Now you gotta format the memory stick . Scroll to SETTINGS > SYSTEM SETTINGS > FORMAT MEMORY STICK

3) OK now download this pack from here . and EXTRACT it with WinRAR . Don?t have Winrar Download it from here

4) Now extract the PANDORA folder from the downloaded pack to the desktop . Inside the Pandora folder you will find two other folders ?msinst? and ?mspformat?

5) Connect you PSP to the PC via USB cable .

6) Now in you computer go to START > RUN and type in CMD and click on OK . A black box will popout .

7) Here?s kinda the confusing part . your computer might show C:\ or C:\Documents and Setting\Username> ? Now I told you to you to extract the folders to the Desktop . So copy the location of the msformat picture here paste it followed by the drive letter of your PSP (eg my psp drive removable disk (I:) the letter is I )

Now if your PC shows C:/ in your CMD copy the address bar and paste it in followed by the letter of your psp drive .

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\PANDORA\mspformat\mspformat.exe I

IF you PC shows C:\Documents and Setting\Username> copy the address bar and paste it in followed by the letter of your psp drive

C:\Documents and Setting\Username>Desktop\PANDORA\mspformat\mspformat.exe I

8) Keep trying till you get this prompt (like mine) :

>>> C:\Documents and Setting\Username>Desktop\PANDORA\mspformat\mspformat.exe I
>>> You are about to format the drive I .
>>> All Data will be lost . Do you want to continue? [Y]
Then you type in y and you will see
>>> Drive successfully formatted, and partition moved.
After that you can close the CMD box

9) Disconnect your psp from the PC and remove the memory card and turn of the PSP , then place the MS (MS=memory stick) back in and turn the PSP on . Then reconnect you PSP to the Pc . NOTE: You have to do this ?

10) Now download this pack from here , extract it with WinRar and copy the PSP folder and the UPDATE.PBP to the ROOT of the PSP memory stick . If you you have a 1.5 PSP no problem , If you have Custom Firmware make sure you turn on the 1.5 kernel mode ( to know how see here)

11) Disconnect your PSP . Scroll to GAME and click on ?Pandora?s Battery Firm. Installer? it will take a few moments . After its done remove the MS from the PSP turn it off then place it back in and turn the PSP back on again, you HAVE to do this .

12) Connect your PSP to the PC . A Few files and folders will be formed in your ROOT , now copy the msipl.bin from the root to the ?msinst Folder? which is inside your extracted Pandora folder . It should look like this

13) Here we go again START >RUN type in CMD . That black box will open again . Now copy the address of the msinst.exe followed by the PSP drive letter followed by the address of the msipl.bin

Now if your PC shows C:/ in your CMD it should be something like this (with reference to PSP?s drive as I)

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\PANDORA\msinst\msinst.exe I Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\PANDORA\msinst\msipl.bin

IF you PC shows C:\Documents and Setting\Username> then it will look something like this :

C:\Documents and Settings\username>Desktop\PANDORA\msinst\msinst.exe I Desktop\PANDORA\msinst\msipl.bin

If you did it right you will get a prompt like (this promp will differ from PC to PC) :

Quick guide to converting your battery written by jas0nuk

If you only have one battery and want to unbrick your PSP, you can.

1) Convert your battery into a jigkick one using "Pandora's Battery Creator", but before you press X, press TRIANGLE to backup your battery's EEPROM to ms0:/eeprom.bin
2) Unbrick your PSP as normal
3) When you are done unbricking, take out the battery and the magic memory stick. Start up the PSP using the AC adaptor (do not try to use a USB charger, it will not start up)
4) Insert the magic memory stick and the magic battery
5) Run "Pandora's Battery Creator" again
6) Press L+R to restore the ms0:/eeprom.bin to your battery

NOTE: You can also restore a battery without having made a backup, by pressing SQUARE at step 6. This will generate a fake serial for your battery (0x12345678) which allows it to work normally, but there could be side-effects.

Have fun, and thanks to everyone in the Prometheus/C+D team.
