in an attempt to try and put an end to the countless threads about downgrading i have started this thread.

"for downgrading fat psp's"

for an easy to follow downgrade guide for all firmwares go here
http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-hacks-9/t-gui...uide-90916.html

for fimwares higher than 3.50 you will need to use the pandora battery method go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/552549 or here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/553863 and for the easiest installer ever go here http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=107553 this is the gui installer:)

to downgrade custom firmwares back to 1.50 or repair your semi bricked psp use this 1.50 recovery http://www.sendspace.com/file/j3j2e2 put it in game folder on psp
go into recovery mode and select run programme at psp/game/recovery/eboot.pbp

to downgrade 3.71m33 back to 1.50 if the recovery folder is not working use this http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?p=694755#post694755

"for installing custom firmware on the slim"
Instalation:

The instalation is done using pandora battery and requires a fat psp with 1.50 or
custom firmware with 1.50 support to run a installer.
However once the memory stick installation is done, you can use it in whatever psp slim without
repeating the process again.

We want to thank C+D Team for having created Pandora and having opened the path to custom ipl's,
without which this cfw wouldn't exist.

Steps:

- Create a pandora battery and a pandora memory stick using the C+D team tools.
- Run the fat psp with the pandora memory stick inserted, but with a normal battery.
Copy the directories pandora_slim and pandora_slim% to PSP/GAME or PSP/GAME150.

- Download official sony firmwares 3.40 and 3.50, and put them in pandora_slim directory
with names 340.PBP and 350.PBP.

To avoid confussion: These firmwares are used ONLY to extend the memory stick pandora kernel.
NOTHING FROM THOSE FIRMWARES WILL EVER BE FLASHED ON THE SLIM.

- Run the program. It will quickly extract some prx's overwrting some of the pandora memory stick.

- Insert the pandora battery and the memory stick in the psp slim. It will boot. You won't see
anything on the screen, because that kernel doesn't support the slim screen, but it is OK, you
don't need a screen for the installation of 3.60 M33.

From here, you have 3 options:

- Press X to install M33. The process will last just few seconds, since the installer only
needs to install the M33 custom prx's and IPL. After the process is finished, the installer
will shutdown the psp automatically.

- Press L+R+triangle to uninstall M33 and go back to original 3.60. Note: this can't unbrick a
psp slim, it will just remove M33 ipl. There is currently no unbricker for the psp slim, but
we plan on doing one in the future.
After uninstallation, psp will be shutdown automatically.

- Press square to dump the PSP Slim nand. Watch out: you need 66 MB of free space in the
memory stick for this, otherwise your memory stick may end corrupted.

This option uses the team C+D nand dumper. When the memory stick orange led stops blinking,
the process will have finished, and you can either shutdown the psp, or use one of the two
previous options.

universal unbricker
you can get it here http://dark-alex.org/ its called
>> El Despertar del Cementerio v3<< this will install 3.71m33-2 straight to your psp

Installation:

- If you have already a pandora ms, don't do this part. Otherwise,
format an ms using c+d mspformat or any other tool that allows to move
partition to ~250kb from first sector

Remove ms, usb and connect again usb and ms.
Make PSP and PSP/GAME dirs.

- Copy despertar_cementerio to PSP/GAME/

- Download 1.50, 3.40 and 3.71 update eboots and copy them to ms root with
150.PBP, 340.PBP and 371.PBP names.

- Use the app under a cfw with 2.x or 3.x kernel (be sure that kernel is
selected on recovery to the correct one (2.x or 3.x))

- Once finished, u will have msipl.bin on root. If you already have a pandora
ms, you don't have to do this step (ipl doesn't changes lol), otherwise,
use c+d msinst to install ipl on ms; or use dd command from unix, or any
hex-edit program to write on sector 16 on the physical drive.

- Now you can delete 340 and 150 PBP's, as they won't be used more; but 371.PBP
will be used for unbricker, so don't delete it.

- Now you have an universal pandora ms ready to go, and you just need a proper
battery. If you have 1.50 kernel access, use c+d tool. Otherwise, use corly149 tool.

Battery and ms will work on all psp and slims to this date.

Unbricking:

- Press X to install 3.71M33.

- Press O to install original 3.71 (rest of the process as the X option)

- Press [] to dump nand to nand-dump.bin. When done, psp will auto shutdown.

- Press L+R+HOME+start to restore nand from nand-dump.bin

This proccess is very dangerous, and you should *just* use it if it's your
last chance to get it working.

This is a physical restore process (not a logical one), and will try to make
a 100% exact clon of the dump.

If you are working with a dump that isn't yours, you will get either a brick
or a corrupt idstorage, depending on the firmware.

If while you are restoring your psp have got any damaged block more than
when you dumped it, you might also get a brick, depending on what block is it.

Works for both PSP and PSP Slim.

lets hope this thread stops most of the downgrade questions

I PM'd a mod to get this stickied. With the new PSP out and a wave of must have games, the questions will only increase.

For those of us with a Slim and no access to a PSP Fat that is homebrew - how can we get a hold of the battery. Does anyone recommend ebay?

you will need access to a custom firmware fat psp. the universal unbricker can only be created with one. and there is no easy installer for one.

@sicdude

you should also include the universal unbricker. no psp (fat or slim) should be without one.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

tansw2k20>>> if you actually read a little bit of his post, you'd see that he has something for the slims. Ask something reasonable. I'm sorry but are you blind? It's the 2nd one on the list, IN RED!

if you are on 3.71(this is for my firends psp) is there anyway to get it to 3.71 m33???

or could i brick it, use pandora get it to 1.50 then upgrade to 3.71m33 or is that impossible as slim doesnt support 1.50 firmware i thought....

so question is:

1.) if you are on 3.71 on a psp slim can you get to 3.71 m33 anyway at all???

cheers

you will need the pandora battery but you won't need to brick to downgrade the fat

if you use the universal downgrader v3 it will put 3.51m33-2 straight onto both psp's fat or slim :)

one more question i thought pspslim couldnt go back past 3.60 firmware as this is what all psp slims come with?

so are you totally sure this will work? as its my friends psp so dont really want to break it.

i have already successfully put my slim onto 3.71m33 so i have pandora battery already spare and memory stick.

I have a slim with 3.60 firmware. Would it just be easier to pick up a downgrade kit from ebay and apply? I don't have access to a fat psp.
Also, do I then just use devhack to load the isos?
Thanks
