NERO 6 problem with DVD-R

Got a strange problem. I have been messing around with Nero Recode to back up DVD's. I can get it to create an image file or just the vob files etc strait onto the hard drive but i cannot get them to burn to a DVD-R, They will burn to a +R or +RW no problem but not to a -R. The strange thing is though that if i create the DVD on a +RW for example and then copy to a -R it works. Ok so i have a method but it is far too long winded. It cannot be the discs as i have tried loads of different types, most of which will allow me to do a DVD copy to them. I was thinkng about using Rioxi to burn the image file but recode witll only give you an image file that is suitable for Nero, Ext nrg or something like that. Anyone got any ideas how i can get Nero to work with -R
