if it goes to a black screen, you need a higher firmware. i'd suggest to upgrade to 3.52 m33-4.

follow this miniguide, made by member larrylje, and you'll have 3.52 m33-4 with no problems.

Follow the below steps to recover to 1.50...

First off make sure your PSP is plugged in to the AC Adapter. Keep your PSP plugged in the whole time you are doing these steps.

The PSP also needs to have a battery charge level of 75% or higher. To check the Battery level go to your system settings then battery information. It will give you the % level there. If it is lower then 75% turn off the PSP and let it charge till it is over 75% (I would recommend charging it to 100$)

Now it is time to downgrade to 1.50

Format your memory Stick using PSP system settings.

Download this RECOVERY file.

Extract the file which will extract a RECOVERY folder. Now connect the PSP to PC via USB. Place the RECOVERY folder in the /PSP/GAME folder of the PSP Memory Stick.

Now go to recovery menu.

Do this by turning off the PSP. Hold the power button up till the power led turns off. Now hold the R shoulder button down and keep it down while turning the PSP on.

The Recovery menu should come up. When it does select the option "RUN PROGRAM AT /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP follow the on screen instructions and it will downgrade your PSP back to 1.50 firmware (After it downgrades you might get a blue screen with a bunch of text. If you get this screen just hit O and the PSP will reboot and you will need to enter your settings).

----------

Below is the files and directions to update to 3.52 m33-4.

3.52 M33 HERE

3.52 M33-4 HERE

3.52 firmware HERE

1.50 firmware HERE

Download the 3.52 M33 CFW linked above. Extract the file.

Download both the 1.50 and 3.52 firmware. You need to re-name the 3.52 firmware to 352.PBP the 1.50 firmware to 150.PBP. Then add them to the M33CREATOR folder.

Now copy the M33CREATOR folder and the kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders to the PSP MS directory of ms0:/PSP/GAME folder.

Now go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the KXploit Permanent Patcher (There is 1 that says corupt data this is normal). It should run and say patched successfully and reboot back to the XMB.

Now go to game Menu Memory Stick and run the M33CREATOR.

After you run the M33CREATOR it should reboot back to the XMB. It should have created a 3.52 M33 update which you need to select in the Game Menu Memory Stick.

It will flash the files to the PSP and you should be at 3.52 M33 firmware. If it is then format your MS.

Now extract the 3.52 M33-4 update.

Drag the PSP folder that is in the update M33-4 into the root of the MS overwriting the files when it asks you to. Now go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the m33-4 update. This will only take a few seconds.

After the update is finished check and make sure it says 3.52 M33-4 for firmware. If it does say 3.52 m33-4 then format the MS 1 more time.

You are now updated to 3.52 M33-4.

Same thing happen to me but all I did was go into recovery menu and turned on NO-UMD ( What that does is it tell the psp it doesn't need a umd inside the psp for it to recognize psp games) but that didn't help so I just put a umd in the psp and then went to the memory stick started the game and it worked fine. Try that.

Thanks.
i have always had a umd in the psp.
when we bought it the bloke told us that.
he never said we would have to alter the firmware though, just download games and play them.
if i mess about with the firmware as recommended is there any chance i'm going to knacker the psp completely?

I'm not going to lie to you. You can brick your psp. But you have as much chance of bricking it as normally updating you psp like normal. I've downgraded twice and put custom firmware on it by myself and I'm only 15. All you need is a good guide and the right files.

Tutorial on how to install 3.51 M33 : http://www.gamerspress.com/index.php?tit...m_Install_Guide

Get the files from here : http://dl.qj.net

Hope I helped
