This a bit of newbie question but Im bit confused about something .

I know I can rip from a dvd and burn into hardrive and that from experince it take some time so Im wondering if there is faster way ?

My dvd write is lightsribe rw x10 multi drive which maybe not that fast .

What I want to know is what whether I can speed up the process bvy burning onto blank dvd directly from the source dvd , or wether I just need a faster writer.

thanks

Ripping files to your HDD at the best speeds requires the better processors.Period. The faster the file transfer to your HDD and then to your optical drive, is the aim. Try using a Pentium one coupled with a 16X burner (not that it will work) and feel the difference, grass would grow faster....

I have resonably fast processor its dual core too but like Im still no wiser as to whether i can transfer directly from one drive to the other .

It seems to me that would be the fastest method if possible ( skipping out the hard drive )

Sorry, i seem to have gotten hold of the wrong end of the stick. I believe you mean to back-up on the fly. This method although possible, and in my opinion is not recommended as it can be problematic(more so than usual). Use this LINK to search through AD threads on "copy dvd on the fly". If you choose this method then buy the best quality media you can get a hold of, and burn at reasonably slow speeds...like 4X or 8X. Be prepared to loose a disc or two though!

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
