Ok so after trying many diffrent programs its obvious that vista/this laptop cant connect to anything but internet explorer. At first I thought it was just online games. Then I tried to get firefox and it would not connect to that. Then I tried to instal Bearshare and that dint connect either. (see picture for an example)
Now ive tried everything I think of, and what afew other people have told me and neither of thos worked. Heres what I have tried so far.
yes, ive tried running in adminastratior mode, dint work
yes, ive tried going into windows firewall and turning it off, dint work
yes, ive gone into windows firewall and turned it on, dint work
yes, ive gone into windows firewall and allowed access to certian programs, dint work
yes, ive tried the 4th thing with firewall on and off, dint work
now I have no clue what to do, I really need this laptop to connect to some outside programs. Can anyone help me cause I really dont know what else to do.

If you have any Norton antivirus or Internet Security programs, uninstall them (or disable) and see if the internet starts working again. Norton and Vista is like oil and water. Took me about an hour to figure this out, but once Norton was gone, all was well.
