Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has succesfully made an external drive boot to wii through the USB ports on the back of the system?

I have read not too much on this. I remember reading something about only the FAT32 partitions can work on the Wii system, but don't know much more than that.

I'm trying to see if anyone has succesfully done this as I would like to make my wii into something that is more like my modded xbox media center.

Yeah the same seemed to be the case for the gamecube.

But is the wii all together incapable of doing this?

the drive isnt upto the playing of dvd films etc wears out quite easily according to other ppl
if u burn out the drive u then have to buy a new one and get it chipped again

not worth the risk

Are you talking of the disk drive or the hard drive (if the wii has one)?

I was thinking of adding a small external notebook harddrive that would be powered by the two usb ports. And then boot games & such from that.

But I'm not reading anything about this online

u cant use a hard drive like u can with the xbox

well not been done as yet anyways

the wii would have to be properly hacked before something like that wouild be possible
