gamestop will check and see if it can access live and if the security sticker is still in place. Best buy may check for the securiy sticker. Wal-Mart would be your best chance.

Heres a different scenario - what if one has a modded xbox360 that broke.. went to walmart and bought a new one with cash - switched everything and returned it. worth taking the risk?

Eventually you will need to get the heat sink fixed, so better to use it until it 3rlods and then get it repaired. Here's who did my fix, and will install a fan mod or a new DVD drive also.

For USB Advance/eXtreme I used a WD400 in a USB2 enclosure. I installed games with the official Windows interface and used USB eXtreme Free Edition to boot them.
For HDLoader I am using WinHIIP to install games onto the WD400 in the USB enclosure. Then I transfer them to a Maxtor 120 DIAMONDMAX PLUS 9 6Y120L0. I boot with Fully Patched HDLoader.

Does he do a good job and is he trustworthy? Id be willing to let him look at my xbox 360 - but I still have that fear or sending it to someone who I dont even know.

I guess it depends on how you did it... if you used a check or credit card they would have your information right there... when you return something you have to fill out the form - so obviously you wouldnt want to put your name/address on there..
