Does it boot to the XMB (PSP MENU)?

Did you try playing a UMD GAME?

When you say it boots DIM did you try pressing the brightness button to make the back light lighter?

The UMD LASER IS NOT REQUIRED!!! (If you are running CFW 3.52 M33-4 - 3.71 M33-2 or any other CFW which have the VSH menu or an option to change the driver).

If u are on a lower FW, UPGRADE TO 3.52 M33-4 - 3.71 M33-2!!! It is the only way to play games WITHOUT THE UMD LASER. NOTE!!! - U CAN ONLY PLAY CSO/ISO GAMES IF THE LASER IS DAMAGED. In older FWs, u can do nothing @ all!! as they require u have a UMD in the bay to load games. Once u are on the correct CFW, press select when @ the XMB to open the VSH menu, and select 'Sony np6600' as the UMD driver. This allows u to play 99% of games without the UMD.

if you tell me what firmware you have then i can help you get a hacked psp, which requires no umd when you place dled game into your psp.ask all those questions later.so, what firmware you use?

go to system setting
then system information.

in mines it says

System Software 3.71M33-2
Nickname xxxxxxxx(NOT REQUIRED)
MAC address xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx(DON'T TYPE IN!)

the bit where it says "system software".tell me the number after that.

it may not be in the same order as me, because my psp comes from the UK, but the 3 things should be there.just the number.

yep, what larry said, you've practically fu**ed up your psp.get your hands on a pandora, send your psp away and when you get it back it should be 3.7x.use pandora to downgrade and its fixed!or you can go to your nearest game shop and ask them if they can fix it.
