i have a ps2 slim version scph-70012! it playz sum ov da movie dvdz on it but on sum dvdz it sayz TV SYSTEM DOESNT MATCH! is there any solution 4 dis?

Yes get it modded.
or there used to be somethins like PS2 Region Free couple of years ago. you may want to look for them.

Well, you did'nt mention that......May be you have a old modchip.
I had modbo 4 in my old PS2 which wont let me play NTSC DVDs.
Also I have read somewhere that with modchip PAL ps2 will be able to play NTSC dvds but vice versa is not possible for some reason I forgot.

actually it plays all da golden so called malaysian dvdz either its a game or a movie! but when i play blue dvd it only supports sum ov dem! btw how can i know if my ps2 is moded or not?? n if its moded then which chip is it n which version??

Its probably modded.
While booting PS2 (after pressing the power button) hold down "L1"
if nothing happens (normal behavior) then try holding "R1"
How do you play DVDs, like PS2 games or by holding the power button or something......
It must be some NOT VERY old clone chip considering you got it from some wholesale place.

yeah when i pressed da L1 button it didnt loaded (blank screen) but no reaction on R1!!
i do play movies like normal games, i just insert em n press da power button!
i'm from pakistan n i got my ps2 at a cheap rate dan all ov da other vendors in my city! it is sort of a wholesale place! when u luk at my ps2 it seems like its casing has been made at home :-D i mean that its not da original one!!

Hey aim07 I am from India.
I would suggest you try out SMS media player on your HOME-MADE PS2!!
You probably have a messiah or Modbo chip considering your from Pakistan. I also used to have thes probs with my V12 + Ripper iv.
Say how much did you get it for? are pirated games still on sale in Pakistan?
Sure it would hurt to have lost like that in the final moment!!

i got da console n two controllers 4 pkr7500 where dis package was not less dan pkr9000 anywhere else in da city in those dayz!
yeah we get only pirated gamez here 4 ps2!

I think your chip is Ripper 4+, very hard to find info on net.
it supports AUTO-BOOT. but fails in DVD playback a bit.
Your PS2s version is SCPH-70012 CB (for United States) V12.
you can do one thing with this, that is get a HDisk installed via
HD-COMBO!! b'coz this one has some serious laser issues.
Its around 3,500 INR in India.
We used to get PS2 games for around as cheap as 30 INR!! earlier this year but on 27th April PS3 was launched alongwith Anti-piracy
bulls s*it.
I was talking bout the T20 Worldcup FINALS......but honestly after such performance Pakistani's should not have let the opp slip.

well i'm not even sure about da version cuz in da firmware options it says scph70012 n on da back ov da console it says scph 77001-4 :-D
so u saying dat i shud boot games via hdd but not da dvdz??
wats hd-combo? is it a software or a hardware??
yeah we cud get here for as low as pkr.60!! n we've da same prob wid ps3 games here!
Oh yeah it really hurts alot! but its a game one wins n other loses!

hey i need help on how 2 do sms palyer on my concsole!! i did it by this way: http://www.sksapps.com/sms/en/installation-bootablecdr.html
n when i insert da cd n start console da browser opens giving me 2 option PS2 memory card n Playstation2 CD, when i select da disc option it just comes back 2 da browser after a few seconds!

Just burn this. This is LuanchELF The universal Launcher/OS for the PS2

also put the SMS player.elf in that image with some progs like ISOBUSTER or UltraISO.
OR if you have USB drive FORMATTED to FAT/FAT32. you can put the .elf on it.
Boot the burned disc in PS2 and go to MASS once uLaunchELF boots up
& hit "O" on the Elf you put in there.
Or if you put it in the disc then go to CDFS in the menu.
from there follow on -screen instructions.

hey i made sum folders on da disc n placed da ulaunch elf file in dat folder!
it didnt worked out when i inserted da disc in console!
do u think dat da folders which i made caused da prob?? shud i place it on da root directory of da cd?

No, its a little complicated......
there is a READY TO BURn image already there.
just befire burning oprn the .bin or .iso file with Isobuster and drag-in SMS.elf file. so that it gets into the image.
after that SAVE THE IMAGE file.
now use any burning software to burn at 4-8x(Nero.....)

Just open the imge with ISO BUSTER. and DRAG the .elf in the isobuster window, where the files are listed.

I have just been reading this thread so I would just like to no or rather understand it is possible to watch dvds from the ps2 box slim box.also do you need anything to plug in the front to do this like you need for the xbox.to use a remote control as with the xbox.or can you use the joypads that come with it.????
Now dont think I am thick LOL but I am after all a women of not old but not yound either.I do have all the game consoles psp ps2 xbox ect,anyway I would be grateful if u could help??

No you don't need anything but your controller to view DVDs on your SLIM PS2, It already has a sensor front,Just slight low-left to the Power/Reset button. just put in a DVD as you would put in a game.

dude seriously i cant put the sms.elf file into ule412.binz image using iso buster! it doesnt gets into da files list but it does gets into da list on da left most side! i dun even get a SAVE option??
