Shame my first post had to be a whinge but oh well!
Anyway, i'm a new member from Australia who's just recently purchase a 8164b drive (One of the last 2 on Aus-eBay for $103.00AUD!!). Yeah i know its expensive but what can you do.
Anywho, installed all onto my vista machine fine, boot up rawdump and 'Oh-oh', my drive selection looks as following:
Ok, wierd. I have 3 DVD drives in use, but for some reason it only shows the uppermost drive (LG Burner) and ignores both my pioneer, and lg ripping drive.
So, when i click one and hit start dump with a gamecube disk in there (PAL WiiPlay fyi) i get the following:
Ugh, any ideas on whats going wrong? I've tried searching, as well as wading through the 55 or so pages in the burning guide but to no avail! Please help me put this $100 doorstop to good use!
- The drive shows up fine in Vista, reads discs ok. I put wiiPlay into it, and double clicked the drive but it said the disc was corrupted or something, figured that was normal anyway.
-When i disable the only drive that shows up (And is being duplicated 3 times), the dropdown box simply has 2 blank choices...
103 AUD dam thats heaps, i live in vic and i bought mine 47UAD ebay, so it's not bad, hey check out my profile and add me on msn for wii goodies for ppl in aus =] . . . can you see the drive in my computer? hooked up properly? eg, master slave?
I can see the drive in My Computer. As for the setup options, im fairly confident the master/slave is setup right or else it wouldnt have detected it under windows anyway.
hmmmm, unfortunately i don't use vista so i don't have that kind of problem with it, are u sure the version of net framework is 2.0? Later versions don't work im pretty sure
Try running rawdump as an administrator. Vista is kinda particular about that kind of thing. And like slibs said, make sure that you have Dot.Net 2.0 installed.
I'm running Vista, so dot net should be installed anyway. I've tried running as admin, as well as running it in compatibility mode.
Its got to be some sort of IDE/Compatibility issue. Because it only affects the two things i'm running off my IDE cable (Both the Pioneer burner and 8164b). Before i had the 8164, DVD Shrink for instance would not detect the Pioneer burner and only my LG Burner, but for some reason Nero would.
I'm completely stumped. Should i try updating drivers or firmware?
This is killing me! I know its IDE related, as both the drives currently connected to my IDE cable (Only got one cause its a newer mobo) are having these disappearing issues under some programs such as DVD Shrink and Rawdump yet Nero has no problems.
Could be a motherboard / Jumper setting i suppose. Gunna have a look with some help later on tonight. Worst case scenario i'll just use it on a different friggen computer running XP. Gah.
Until i resolve this issue, if anyone else is having similar issues i recommend using Friidump. Whilst i havent actually burned anything from it yet, at least the drive and disc had (at least 40%) imaged by the time i posted this.
It also appears that the Gigabyte 965 DS3 were consistant across these detection problems so that could be a cause. In any case, this weekend i'm going to be picking up a IDE > Sata converter to try that.
