Hi I got a PSP with Custom firmware and Im looking to play my backup games from the memory card. Only thing is, my UMD does not read disks. Now I read somewhere that I can play ISO's and CSO's without a UMD inserted but I really dont know how to. Im still a noob if it comes to the PSP so if any1 could link me to a tutorial or could explain it to me in steps would be great
Thanks

well what firmware do you have. all you have to do is go into recovery mode by holding R while you start up you psp. then go into configuration, then go down to UMD Mode and press X until it says No UMD

yeah, maybe it's true but some game need UMD? to play even you have set it to "NO UMD". (Like Harvest Moon Innocent Life)

My Phat PSP History : 1.50 > 3.40 OE-A > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33-2 (semi-bricked) > 1.50 (Recovered) > 3.40 OE-A > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33-4 > 3.80 M33-2 > 3.80 M33-5 > 3.90 M33-2 + 1.50 Subset.

go with 3.52 m33-4. upgrade to 3.52 m33 first, then download the 3.52 m33-4 update. can be found at dl.qj.net.

then once it's installed, you'll have to configure the umd mode. use the sony np9660 driver.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10

got a whole lot more to list . . .

the sony driver is the best. all members will say to use it beacause it's the official ISO loader. it boots all psp and ps1 games, provided you get good rips of the games.

to play psp games, you place them in the ISO folder. that folder is in the root of the memory stick (ms0:\ISO). and once they're in the folder, you just boot up the psp. once in the xmb, go to game/memory stick, and the games should be there.

ps1 games have to be converted. i haven't done it yet, but other members who have, will be able to help point you in the right direction.

As I know (did it already), you need to convert the ps1 game (ISO) to .pbp (using POPStationGUI) and place the .pbp to /psp/game/<whatever>/<the game>.pbp.

My Phat PSP History : 1.50 > 3.40 OE-A > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33-2 (semi-bricked) > 1.50 (Recovered) > 3.40 OE-A > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33-4 > 3.80 M33-2 > 3.80 M33-5 > 3.90 M33-2 + 1.50 Subset.

you will also need a new popsloader plugin. the one provided with 3.52 m33-4 is a minimal. check dl.qj.net or google for popsloader.

Can you tell me what is popsloader use for ? I really wanna now, cuz I never use that but I can still run a PS1 game.

it's used for ps1 games. it doesn't change 3.52 m33-4 firmware, it changes the ps1 game firmware. not all games will boot with the same firmware, so you will have to mess with different ones. (i.e. one game boots with 3.40, but another boots with 3.30)

This is incorrect, ps1 games have nothing to do with a no UMD driver lol. Ps1 games are handled via .prx files as somebody mentioned a few posts before mine.
