I tried many different UMDs, same result, and i even tried the same UMD on different PSP, and all working fine.. I know that its something to do with the software side, but i tried unbricking many times with the psp which formats all the flashes and reset all system files, but still same result, over and over again, even the UMD icon wont appear, it loads for few seconds and the error pops up!! I guess there is a first thing for everything :S

What's the error code?

Anyway, if u are running CFW go into the recovery menu.

Select advanced.

Select advanced configuration.

Disable everything in this menu.

Worked for me :P

The error has no number, just what i said before, and in the recovery, those settings are already disabled, no use..

did you turn off the read umd. thats what you do when you have iso's and whant to play them without a UMD Inserted. and did you drop it reently because the laser might be broken

hello guys

i do some repairs in PSP recently i received one PSP that have fell out and have the rear cover breaked i've replaced the rear cover and perform some reading tests and it was working perfectly. but during the assembly one of the buttons wasn't working precisly so i opened and put everything in place and close PSP ( this isn't the 1st time that i do that) but sudently the PSP cannot read the UMD

allready check the cables and replaced the laser
also
run pandoras also install a CFW (3.40 OEA) and message persists.
replaced the battery: same issue

i can ear the UMD spinning and the laser moving for a couple os seconds and sudently it stoped

i'll try now to desable the UMD reading options in the PSP and then post in here

but if you have better ideias please post here :D

Hi assadi84,

May i ask:
1) How did you unbrick ur set? Did you press L+R+START+HOME?
2) What is the steps you took to unbrick?

I am experiencing such probs. I've unbrick my set using another person's nand DUMP. A little guess here (if anyone can clarify) is that each individual umd is diff frm e others, using another person's dump will cause it not to function as it cannot recognise its own umd drive. I am looking for help in this forum to see if anyone can help in clarifying my guess.

Hopefully, a prog will be released to help us fix this issue similiar to MacFixer created by Cory.

Hope this helps.:)

Well man i think that your problem is on your mainboard's flash memory and not to the umd unit. The guy that asked you if you restored the dump (nand) by full mode is right because if you did you messed up the internal units adresses so from now on your console will only play games under custom firmwares only.

i have this problem too, cannot read umd,but the second i close the umd drawer(with the umd in)i hear a beep and the "the disc could not be read" appears.it doesnt even attempt to read the disc so im assuming its something to do with the firmware, bringing it back tomorrow
