the psp is not modded if it has 3.50, it's homebrew capable and downgradeable if you have a copy of lumines.
unless you have a modchip in it.
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd

yep. 3.40 oe-a and 3.51 m33 are custom firmware. no custom firmware was made with 3.50.
but don't give up yet. like i said before, get a copy of lumines, and you'll be able to downgrade to 1.50. once at 1.50, you'll be able to upgrade to any custom firmware.

Wooow... what are the games called?
When you turn off your PSP, if you hold down R when you restart it what happens?
Are you sure it's not got a mod chip and in system software it definitely says 3.50, nothing else?
PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

Are you sure those are not just demos? As there is no custom 3.50 (and if it was custom it was say something like 3.??-m33 for example).

Well if you dont update, you can still use lumines. There is also the way of the Pandora's Battery. But in order to make a Pandora's you need access to a PSP with CFW (Custom Firmware).
I would go to that kid and tell him you want your money back.

Phat PSP #2 - 3.40 OE-A

backup everything on your psp to your pc.
format your mem stick.
on the root of your ms, there should be a folder called iso in caps.
now, place your game(either .iso or .cso)into the iso folder and play from your games bit on your xmb.
you can dump your own umd into your pc then back to your ms(memory stick).
since you're on 3.71m33, press select then go to usb device.
now using your left or right button, select to umd disc.
now go to exit.now, connect your psp to pc and there should be a file that looks like a .rar file.
DON'T EXTRACT IT!now, place it onto your pc.
it may take some time depending what the size your game is.
now, place the file that looks like a .rar file into the iso file on your psp and you're good to go.

He knows how to do all that, he was asking about playing games through a USB connection.
Anyway yes, you can, though i can't seem to remember what you use to do it :(

Thats right. put your isos in the same folder as usbhostfs on your pc. Toggle usbhost in irshell and look in your memory card in irshell and you will see the new folder there(if your psp connected to your pc). Select iso and it runs.
