is it very likely that any Wii bought brand new today will have the D2C chipset.

the serial number starts: LEH14130xxx

also would it tell you on the drive its self once the machine has been opened

No the machine doesn't know if you've opened it already or not.

ok you dont have to rub it in you know, im sure there will be another easier chip along shortly

just had it in bits to check drive and 2 of the 4 screws that hold the drive in are worn so the screw drive wont grip!

wonder if that their new secuity feature

hey i noticed that some of the screws seem to be spring loaded from the bottom so you have to have a decent amount of pressure you them you cant just fit the screwdriver and turn, to be honest i think most of the tri screws are like this i myself almost stripped the first one because I didn't know this, try pressing down with a decence amount of pressure before you try to turn, once you start it and if its a spring loaded one you'll know what i mean, also remember this when putting it back together otherwise you'll run the risk of stripping it on the put back
