I've been looking around in the forums and can't seem to find any info on this, I'm sure its just common knowledge to most, but I could use a little help. The last time I had a psp, the snes emulator was big news, now i'm buying a psp slim, mostly because I want to play my old playstation games again.
So heres what i'm not sure about, on the auto popstation tutorials i've read, it seems simple enough to get psx games working on your psp, but to do this, do I need custom firmware? Since the ability to play psx games was initially implemented by sony, I always thought it was just something I could do without messing with anything else. Also, to change firmware on the psp slim will I need to use the pandora battery method or is there some other way?
Please note that by this post I am in no way advocating piracy, I own all the original psx games that I want to play. Just wanted to make sure nobody has a problem with this.
And if this was already discussed somewhere, by all means point me to it, sorry if this has already been asked.
I'm sorry that I can't help you with your PSX problems, but I can with the pandora's :)
Anyway, a quick note - If the ability to play PSX games was implemented by SONY then why should u need CFW?
And no. There is no other method of installing CFW for the PSP slim unit. Search Afterdawn forums for the guide for making the universal unbricker v3 (hmm..I liked the name 'pandora's batter' better)
you need custom firmware because the games aren't digitally signed by sony. anything that's not digitally signed, won't launch in the xmb; that's why the error code pops up.
