They probably bringing white to see if they can confuse consumers in thinking they are purchasing the Nintendo Wii :) soo that the Wii's lead can be diminished somewhat.

Can this "cheap" ps3 run US games fine? Does it need an adapter in order to plug it into a normal wall socket?
If that's the case, I wonder why people haven't reacted to the price. that's amazingly inexpensive!
As for backwards compatibility, that's a minor issue, I still got my modded ps2. =D

From what I udnerstand it dose not have wi fi and 2 usb ports compared to the normal PS3, I do insist BWC be a staple of newer gaming they can afford it theres no reason not to have it since tis a bitch plugging in the older stuff to play something.
Hell they should make deals with ex console groups and get their old games to run and sell the emu for 25 per updated setup on their digi distro stores.

Question:
I am going to Japan at the end of the month. If I bought PS3 over there, will it be playable in New Zealand (regarding video system: NTSC/PAL & region code)?

Well, technically YES. JAPAN is NTSC. NZL is I.D.K?? but you wont be able to ply any games from your region unless somenoe figure-out how to do so.

NZ is pall so most likly it wont work, plus the JP PS3 only runs USA and JP DVDs, while the pal runs eu and jp dvds...really is region coding all the fck over again just in a different name.
You only have 2 choices as far as I can see get a NZ unit or get a US unit, but if you plan to run native dvd/br then get a NZ unit.

Thanks. I checked the Japan's price. If I converted it to NZ$, it's like half of the NZ's unit price. Sigh.

How Hdef mad are you? you can buy converters that will put it to PAL/ntsc but the good ones are 100+
heres a example
http://cgi.ebay.com/MULTI-SYSTEM-PAL-NTS...1QQcmdZViewItem
Also if your TV has component cabling or HDMI you can avoid the pal/ntsc thing altogether.
if you have scart, composite or Svid you need a converter.
