Hi, I recently downloaded a mp4 movie file. so I used a basic .thm file from my HD and put the files in the 100MNV01 folder. However when I go on the psp to watch the video it says unsupported data. Does anyone know why it is doing this? I usually just put my avi video into a converter and put it on the psp but this is a mp4 file and the quality when converted turns out to be terrible. Thanks for your help.

Probably wrong mp4 encoder. Re-encode it to mp4 again. The quality won't be too bad cuz the resolution of the PSP isn't too high.

Make sure that your memory stick looks like:

MS0:\MP_ROOT\100MNV01\(Movie File).MP4

Also, which firmware are you currently running on?

try upgrading to m33-4 and just putting it into VIDEO. Also, you might need that extra file a long with the mp4 video. I use to get those extra files all the time that was needed.

I also have the same problem, but I have 3.60 official firmware, I should still be able to watch videos, right?

And I did copy the small file and it did not make a difference.

I'm having a similar problem. I just got my phat psp 3.52M33-4. I converted a few AVI format movies using SUPER C, and ended up with files such as MAQ00001.mp4 and MAQ00001.thm. I placed these under mp_root\100anv01 on my memory stick.

when I try to play it though, it shows: Unsupported data ??

Ahh.... I was using H.264/AVC to encode it. I changed it to MPEG4. Also dropped the resolution to 368x208 instead of 480x272

Anyway, one of those things fixed it. I'm pretty sure it was the fact I was previously encoding the video using H.264/AVC. I read somewhere today that 3.52M33-4 won't play these....

ahh... here is where I read it http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstat...hread.id=224422

hmm, i'm pretty sure it is a resolution problem...
Whenever i make a video on 480x272 resolution, i get unsupported data.

And that sucks because that's the natural resolution of the PSP.

if you are on custom firmware and want a simple program that does not affect video quality try using winnydows' xvid4psp. this program lets you convert video files to almost any format. i personally use it to make my videos .pmp files and use PMPlayer to view them. its pretty cool and even lets you view subtitle files. just check out the website and follow the instructions.
