Hey all, I'm new to the whole PSP scene and, to be frank, am kind of a spacey chick to begin with, but have managed to get M33-2 on my Slim. I got a Sony 4 Gig stick and started acquiring games to load it up with. I added one, it played great. Good. Then another. Went smooth. Then I tried a PSone. Perfect. All was well. I still had 2.11 gigs free on it.

Then I added a few more. Nothing. The only thing I could see in the PSP menue was the first three I added. I deleted all of the ISOs and CSOs and PSone eboots, and tried again adding the games in a different order. ONLE THE FIRST THREE GAMES SHOWED UP. On the stick, all of the games I added were there, like, I could see them in the browser on the computer on the stick, but the PSP would only show/let me play the first three added. I tested this with MANY different ISOs of all sizes and types. It always stays true. Only the first three are playable.

Is there a precedent for this? Any one have any ideas? I've been google-ing all day!

Thanks a lot guys!

did you get the memory stick from ebay? if you did, then it might be fake. in the menu, go to memory stick and press triangle. on the right side, it'll say information. choose that. then it will show:

-capacity
-space left
-magicgate: ...

in the magicgate, is it supported or unknown?

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd

since you stated it's a sony, it's a fake. some members have fake memory sticks, and they work fine. others say the die shortly.

do this:

first, copy all of your memory stick contents to your computer.

once done, run a command box (start->run->cmd). once it appears, type "format (psp drive letter): /fs:fat". without quotations. once started, it will ask if you really want to format the memory stick. type "y" and enter. then it will ask you to use 64k cluster. again type "y" and enter.

once done, copy back all of the contents of the memory stick.

Okay, I got done formating it, thank you so much for the great, easy to follow instructions by the way, and now I'm copying over the PSP files (without he ISOs) right now. It says it's going to take about 45 min. Thats MUCH longer then it used to under the basic formatting that the PSP itself did BUT if this works then Yay! Waiting a litle longer will be well worth it.

Fingers crossed.

formatting the memory stick that way increases the read time of the memory stick, but write time will almost be the same. iso/cso games will run more smooth. tested by myself and other members.

info: fake memory sticks may have more space, but some can really only use 1 or 2 gigs max, even if it's a 4gig. also, the read and write time is slower compared to a real sony or sandisk.

since you said that the iso/cso/eboot works, it's the memory stick. members have had a similar problem like this.

check your recovery settings. shut off the psp fully, and turn it on, while holding the r trigger button. when the menu appears, go to configuration. check if hide corrupt icons is disabled and the kernel is set to 3.71.

try reinstalling 3.71 m33-2. a reflash can sometimes fix the problem.

last resort is to get a new memory stick, preferably from a retail store.

See, but I can fit up to 4 gigs worth of stuff on it. I filled it to 3.54 gigs worth of ISOs. That kind of makes me think it's something else. Well, kind of hoping it's something else. The memory stick would be a pain and cost a lot to replace. Man, I just got it in the mail monday. Bah.

one member was able to fill up the memory stick with games, but it would show up as corrupted files. it was because of the fake memory stick.

fake memory stick are unpredictable at what they do.

Okay, so hide corrupt icons is OFF
and it is set for 3.71

I reflashed the PSP earlier today. I'll try again now.

Put like 4 gig of music on it and see if they play, especially the ones at the end of the list. If they don't, there is no hope. Get a Sandisk next time because counterfeit Sandisks are less frequent. Most fake memory sticks really only have 200 or so megs on it. It only tricks the reader to read it as 4 gigs, so you can "fit" 4 gigs of stuff on it, but since the memory really only has about 200 megs, after 200 megs got transferred, the rest becomes corrupt.

Is there any way after buying the stick to determine its actual capacity other than just loading it with stuff ans seeing how much of it works?

I don't know of a way. I don't think there is a way.

It would still show it's fake capacity. It will always show it's fake capacity.
