Hitachi 47DH wont go to MODE B

Hey guys I am currently trying to get my hitachi 47DH drive into MODE B. I am using a Slax 2.0 CD and a VIA VT6421A SATA controller. I connected everything and then I turn on both my xbox360 and pc and the pc would boot from cd and it would run Slax. Am i supposed to test to see if its in MODE B when it ask for log in information? Well, when the log in screen came up I pressed the eject button on the xbox360 and the drive just opened when i press the eject button once and there is no flashing lights on my xbox360. After I enter the login name and password the same thing happens. I am wondering what I am supposed to do when it ask for log in and password.

I know Slax 2.0 won't work for that drive with that card. The older slax CD might work, but I'll pretty sure you're going to have to do the 2 wire trick to get it into mode b. That's what I used to do, but I refuse to flash anymore of those. Still it's not too hard to do if you are careful.

With that card you may need to get another one if you want to use Slax. After doing a little reading up on it I don't think Slax works with the old Hitachis and VIA chipsets. The 0078fks work great. It's why I stuck with the 2 wire trick for older Hitachis when I still flashed them.

It's not hard. There's just a chance of frying the drive if you aren't careful and don't follow the steps correctly. Here's a thread on it and look for my post and the link I post halfway through the thread.

i have a hitachi 78fk and a via 6421a and so slax 2 wont work with that card, then what do i do or get since slax is the only waynto get 78fk's in mode b
