I solved the problem, see my last reply to find out how.
My brother made me a pandora battery and memory stick. I tried it on my slim today and it didn't work. I insert the memory stick and then the battery and I get the green power light. After that nothing happens. No sight that the memory stick is being read and pressing X does nothing, it just stays like that.
I remade the memory stick using TOTALNewbi easyInstaller with option 3 and also 4. Tried again and same problem.
When I plug in the ac adapter and then insert the battery, the light turns amber. If I insert the battery first it turns green but switches to amber if I plug in the AC adapter. If the psp is turned on using the AC adapter and I plug in the battery, it shows 100% charge.
Running the pandora battery maker is simple so I don't see why it isn't working. There were no errors when it was made. I can't do it again because my brother is on the east coast and I would have to ship the battery. Can I test my battery without a CFW psp? Are any of the things I listed a sight that it works or it doesn't?
I want to be sure that the battery is the problem before spending time and money shipping only to find out it wasn't the battery after all.

you have the wrong magic memory stick. you will need to recreate the memory stick for the slim. best magic memory stick for all psp's is the universal unbricker v3. only downside is that it upgrades to 3.71 or 3.71 m33-2. also for the fat psp's, you need to add the 1.50 kernel patch v2.
you can find all files HERE
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure
got a whole lot more to list . . .

Thanks for the information. Don't I need a fat psp to make that ultimate magic memory stick? If possible, I would like to try using something that doesn't require a fat psp to save on shipping cost and time.

Here is a screenshot of the menu for the easy installer that I'm using. Doesn't option 3 imply that it should be the right memory stick for the slim? Thanks again.

the installer you're using is a big file, so it includes everything needed. redo the memory stick with option 4. once done, try it on your slim. put the memory stick first, then the battery, OR put the battery first, then the memory stick. the memory stick and then wifi lights should start blinking. once they stop blinking, press x. most likely, you'll have to do a blind install.

If you created the Ultimate Magic Memory Stick then place the Pandora Battery in first. Then hold the L trigger button down (Keep it down) while placing the Magic Memory Stick in the PSP.

Thank you very much for the input cee43ja1 and larrylje. I tried to put the memory stick first and last, with and without holding down L.
I only get the green power light. No memory stick or wifi light. I don't have the files for slim screen support on the stick since I don't have a fat psp with me. I think on one of the youtube videos I saw someone do it and their screen backlight blinked on. I have no backlight at all even when I press the backlight button. Is it normal to have absolutely nothing on the screen (not even backlight)?
If the psp turns on automatecally when I insert the battery, does that mean that it works and was created properly? It's so simple but the only person who will let me borrow a psp with cfw is 3000 miles away. There is someone who is willing to do it free but the cost of gas to reach him is more than the cost to mail it to my brother and back. Thanks again for trying, I feel so close. I waited over a week to get this and I can only play demos until I get this solved.

Did you try holding the L triger down while inserting the Magic Memory Stick?

If your talking to me Hacker06 your wrong . I have been a After Dawn member for 2 years and an After Dawn addict for the past year or more.
Whats not right is the pointless post you give to try to pad your post count. This isn't a chat site so if you post to threads you should post something that contributes to the thread itself.

@ larrylje
I did try holding the L buttom when inserting the memory stick. I started holding right after inserting the battery, before inserting, and after inserting. Tried all combinations of holding L, inserting battery, and memory stick.

The easy installer should install the files to Memory Stick but you still need to run the 3.60 custom firmware creator to modify the Magic Memory Stick and to do this you would need a PSP SLIM/FAT that had CFW on it already
Seems like your gonna have to wait till your brother can create another magic memory Stick for you.

I got it to work. The memory stick was to blame. When I used the TOTALNewbi easy installer the IPL was not written to the memory stick properly because the reserved sector was too small. I had to use Pandora GUI v1.5 to get the sector to be of the right size. Then I used msinst.exe to manually install the IPL. I then deleted the files from the memory stick and pasted the files I got from the TOTALNewbi esasy installer with option 4.
For future reference: An easy way to tell that the TOTALNewbi esasy installer will not work is that when it tries to write the IPL (I think before you get to the options menu) you will see "Check free reserved sector:to small reserved space" instead of ?Check free reserved sector: OK?. I hope this helps those who don't see the memory stick and wifi lights blink after the pandora battery automatically starts the psp.

good thing you found out. once you get your psp slim to 3.71 m33, you should redo your memory stick so it's running universal unbricker v3. it'll put you straight to 3.71 m33-2, and no more blind installs.
also, you should change the name of the thread. go to the last post, and on the bottom right corner, you'll see "thread title". just put (SOLVED) at the end.
