another thing also mentioned in the stickies... you will need another psp that has homebrew capabilities to make a pandora's battery.

I didnt know that you can go from official 3.71 to 3.71 M33. So what firmware isnt downgradable if any?

all are with pandora's battery./... 2.80 and under can be downgraded free.. 3.03 requires GTA LCS unpatched and 3.50 requires LUMINES to dwongrade.

I have a bricked PSP and an official firmware v3.71 PSP. Can I run Pandora's battery on them without a homebrew enabled PSP?

no. pandora's battery can only be created on a homebrew enabled psp.

or you can do the harder choice of opening the battery and desoldering a pin.

So is there currently a way to enable my v3.71 PSP to run homebrew?

no. 3.71 can't run homebrew in any way. you need pandora's battery to downgrade it.

i'd recommend using the universal unbricker v3.it flashes your psp(from whatever firmware)into 3.71m33-2.if you want to use the same battery but want it still a pandora then use larry's guide.it's stickied.

I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm using the right one because when I use the DOS prompt mspformat\mspformat.exe (my PSP drive here) and it asks me if I want to format the drive and I push y it says "Open error <read>."

After the mspformat fails does it carry on to installing the files or does it just close?
If it carries on its because some MS sticks are not compatible with the mspforamt (Usually fake ones) so just format the MS on PSP or PC and run the rest of the easy installer.

are you using a memory stick that's at least 128mb or higher? the standard 32mb can't be used. also the memory stick has to be PRO duo

I'm using a PRO Duo 512MB. I've also read a guide that says to use XP because Vista can cause weird things. If this is the case please let me know.

vista is not able to run the programs. you'll need winXP or lower to make them run.
