Well oner, I don't mind one bit. Do you really feel an adult like me would worry about being banned from a forum? Like it's really gonna affect my life in the slightest?

Hate to break it to you buddy but your first amendment rights don't apply on a forum.
This is owned by someone and they can easily ban or remove anything they deem fit.
You want free speech make your own version of Afterdawn.com.

With all the ideas that buying a console, in itself, constitutes as ?paying? for games, I felt compelled to educate the rest of you (Ginger007) especially, as to the real costs involved.
Firstly, I understand that not everybody has the means to afford games, and there for will always seek cheaper alternatives. Unfortunately though, the purchase of said console will never cover you for such activities.
It is common knowledge throughout the gaming community, especially to any one that considers themselves 'wise? to anything in these forums, that ALL consoles are initial sold with a large lost in profit.
Take the PS3 for example, when released hardware costs incurred to Sony were over $800, yet cost you, the consumer a mere $599. Do the math, at least a $200 loss. Why do this? Because losses are recouped with game sales.
Simply put, those of you just buying the consoles and NOT buying games is obviously costing the manufacturer money. Eventually, the only option to regain the initial loss is to raise game prices for the rest of us honest hard working individuals.
We all call ourselves gamers, so do the right thing, if you can afford to buy it then buy it! Support the developers, you know its right!

i bought my ps3 in december of 2006 for $639. i bought resistance-fall of man for $63 and recently purchased heavenly sword for $62 . I believe i am doing my part and that the ps3 as much as i want it opened up, should not be YET. Like other people have said, sony is losing out on the ps3 itself. and after playing heavenly sword and watching the extras i'm happy to pay retail prices for now. I think they said it took 4 years to make heavenly sword and although the game could have been longer, it was awesome in my opinion. once time has gone by, sony has made some money back, people have bought retail games for a said amount of time and all is well, i wouldn't feel bad playing backups and would hope the ps3 will be opened up. i also would not mind paying $200-400 for a blu-ray burner and the price of blu-ray disks knowing that 1- i would be supporting sony anyway by buying blu-rays or burners and 2- in the long run i'd save myself a little cash and 3- with those prices i wouldn't be burn crazy like with the ps2. there will always be people who do everything legit and those who take shortcuts. i like to think in the end it all works out. look at the ps2. i'd say that worked out. as will the ps3

Saying that Sony (or any console manufacturer) is losing money because of people backing up games is not true.
They took in account that people would do it (if possible) so they do not count on those people in the first place. These are pople that wouldn't buy a game anyway.
Its like saying that CocaCola is losing money due to people drinking water.
Its the manufacturers job to make people want to buy their product. And not vice versa, the people job to buy their product.
Its the basics of economics.

i would just like to add that im very dissapointed with the ps3 i have had it since march 07 and have hardly played on it! i have bought games how many has it got ???? i have been online with it and thats it when are we going to see what it is capable off i play on my psp more than a 4 hundred pound machine and now im even more gutted the price has been slashed for xmas.... if i would have known this i would have saved my cash and got one then!!! when are sony going to pull their finger out?? i would buy certain games but i would also like the chance to back them up adios amigos
