Wow. Did you decide to totally ignore my or billybob's post? Sure seems so! A ps2 disc is the same as any other blank disc...it is the METHOD used to put the game on the disc that makes a difference! If you want to spend thousands of bucks on a pressing machine then you would not need a chip or a swap disc.

That honestly made no sense. The game is pressed on the disc...think of mass production. If you are thinking the disc is specially manufactured and the game is simply copied on to the disc you are mistaken. The technology consumers have does not have the ability to burn )read, whatever) the pressed sectors. Swap Magic disks are pressed as is a ps2 disc (plus a large amount of dummy data to play large TOC games). A modchip injects the missing code.

Just to throw it out there...bit setting to dvd-rom is as close to a pressed disc as you get, I am sure most of you knew that though.

Oh my...this is getting painful. Here I go again.
A ps2 disc is the same thing as a blank memorex (ahhhh!), Taiyo, Verbatm, Ritek....etc etc. A machne "stamps" the game on to the disc, opposed to burning with, wait for it, a burner!
Now, this "super fantastical" discs you speak of exists. It is called God of War 2 or Grand Theft Auto 3....these "super fantastical" are what you would find for sale at Gamestop or Best Buy for $50! The disc you think may exist only truly exists when a game is pressed onto the disc. Thus no magical blank Sony disc really exists!
Please oh please let that make sense.

well GRAH this is what i was trying to find out! you didnt exactly explain the whole diddly-dang thing. by the way i knew that all discs are relatively the same. another thing to my suspicion was the code that makes it work. so I'm SORRY that i didnt look up everything before typing my THOUGHTS. I'm getting rid o' this thread. thanks to all. this kind of went to hell after the second post
