sorry haven`t modded a psp for a while my mate has asked me to mod his is it still necesery to downgrade to 1.5 before upgrading to a custom firmware and which firmware would you guys suggest which is stable and plays most up to date games

yeah you should downgrade a OFW to 1.5 before custom firmware. and i suggest you use 3.71m33-2 because its the latest so all current games would work here. and also its stable..
