Hi everyone
I was wondering the pros and cons of getting my wii modded. My main concern is that will in the future an update brick all the modded wiis? Or will newer software(brickblocker, wii key ipdate discs etc.) prevent this from happening?
Thanks
:)

Pros: Play backups of your games.
Play different region games.
Possible homebrew in the future with a different chip.
Cons: Void Warranty.
If you see that a new update is out, wait and see what others say.

but is warranty that much of an issue? I had my gamecube and ps2 for 5+ years w/no problems.
How soon will homebrew be out?

When there is a better chip out that is not just a drive hack.
Some people really care to keep their warranty for some reason, so they wait until there is a softmod for the Wii.

so would it be wise for now if i update my wii to 3.1/3.3 whatever is out mod w/wii key.
I could care less for warranty, seeing my 1 year is almost over anyways, and want to play back ups and get out of the $50 a game buisness.

Or is wii key good enough?
:)

You can go ahead and mod it if you want, your Wii not mine.

I heard that Nintendo's updates can brick modded Wiis... Is that not true? The only reason I haven't bought a Wii (other than not being able to find one) is because of the bricking issue I've heard about.

NO, the updates will NOT brick your Wii.
If there is a new update then wait and see what everybody say.

You can do Gamecube homebrew right now. Lots of stuff available for it, but the overall development scene isn't very active (from what I can tell).
