Has there been any progresion on the atempts to modify the xbox elite, and play it online, i've searched many forums, high and low, and i still don't have anything but some difficult sodering that needs to be done. Has there been an easier way, posted yet? I am very new to the Xbox360 scene. "NOOB" as you call it, so forgive me if i sound redundant. please help me. thanks in advance.
ciao

Check the stickies. It doesn't matter which variant of the console you have. What matters is the optical drive. If you have a BenQ you're screwed till after the fall update when it is rumored that a custome patch will be released for BenQ drives. If you have a drive that can be patched then I think you'll want to look for the iextreme firmware which supposedly allows you to go online with stealth patched games. I don't have a modded 360 at the moment so what I just wrote might be incorrect. Just check the stickied threads and you'll find the answers you are looking for.

Unless you have one of the launch elites, then you're stuck with a Hitachi 0079FL which can be flashed with the Maximus passkey 1.1

I looked at the contacts on the board and you'd need a surgeons hand in order to solder those wires without botching the job so you're more than likely stuck in the same boat as I am. You have to stay legit until they come up with an easier way.

I'm in no way a NOOB to modding 360's but my soldering skills are crap.

Over 160 Verbatim games I have now have gone to waste. Anyone want em? LOL

As long as you're only using properly stealthed backups.

I just checked my drive and it is the Hitachi rom .0079fk, made in june 2007. so i guess, i am, S.O.L, until further break thru. Man that sucks. Maybe i should trade in the elite for a regular 360, but i do love the HDMI cable, and the 120gig drive... decisions, decisions
oh boy. Thanks for the knowledge. -PS2menace-
But there has to be an easier way!; what about a softmodding?
