i been wanting to get a wii for christmas and i was planing to install a mod chip for homebrew game purposes only. i have learned that nintendo has been cutting the legs of the new Wii's and making it imposible to install the mod chips. so basically any new wii will be imposible to modify :( but can there by any chance that on ebay or someother place be a few still available and able to modify? and what is the exact date nintendo started releasing the modified Wii?

ALL current wii's are moddable. The one's with the cut legs have been moddable for months now. I don't know where you are getting your information from but currently as of the time of this post, ALL wii's (even the D2C) are moddable. Just make sure that you identify which chipset that you have so you can buy the right chip to support it.

Dont know if you need it, but a second confirmation on what kafluke said. All wiis are moddable. You just have to correctly identify which console you have and use the right chip.
