well theres this nice stickied thread at the top of the very page that says how to flash any hitachi drive so i would just follow those instructions, since this is what i did last night and it worked perfectly with my vista desktop.

Actually, there is a book on modding the 360 for dummies. It's made by a guy who goes by the name of textbook. Either google it, or look in the forums to see if there is a link for it. But the book completely walks you through how to mod any 360 drive, minus the benq

Dude, I presume you want to use iXtreme 1.2ver2 for Hitachis?

If so, put all those files into a folder on your c:\ drive like "flash" or something.

If your Hitchi drive is in mode b and Vista can see it you're ready to go.

If you have flashed before you need to restore your firmware first.
Go to the command promt (click the windows start button, all programs, Accessories and the Command Promt is there)

Once in the Command promt type

cd\

to get you into the root of C:\ drive and then

cd flash

(if that's what you called the flash folder)

Once in the flash folder, type

restore E

(assuming E is the drive letter assigned to your Hitachi DVD in Vista

When your old firmware is restored, I tend to switch the DVD off and on again so Windows finds it again and then you're ready to flash.

Go back into the flash folder using the Command Promt again and type the flash command:

flashix E 1810

E assuming this is your Hitachi DVD, and 1810 I just gave it because it is today's date. Give it any 4 digits you want.

Press return and sweat it out until it is successfully patched.

Obviously if you're using different firmware such as Maximus-GaryOpa the flash command would be different...Let me know if this is the case.

I hope this is understandable. I flashed two Hitachis with iXtreme today!

xtreme bootmaker is for samsung drives and not hitachi.
For the hitachi drives you either download the firmware for your drive which will include the files needed to flash it which you do from the command prompt as ginger mentioned or you can use firmware toolbox.
