Hi all.
I have been playing around making my own thumbnails for the movies I am converting to MP4-AVC and getting a nice collection now.
I was wondering if there is anyway to create the same result in the movie menu, as you do in the game menu.
For example when a UMD game is selected in the XMB it has a full screen background image, a move /animated thumbnail, and sometimes sound in the background.
Does anyone know if it is possible to make these myself for the movies?
Many thanks!

all RSS videos come like this so there is a way. i remember it being named the same as the video itself and it was a random picture type (such as JPEG or something). it needs to be a certain resolution as well. my advice would be to just download any RSS file and see how the video structure is after. oh and 3.71 (m33) has that built in so i think it takes the picture of a certain time during the video.

You cant add any of that stuff onto mpeg4 movies, only iso movies. Only thing you can add on those movies are thumbnails.

Thanks for helping tehjoker, and yeah I know you cannot add that information to the actualt MP4 file iteself, but the PSP does use .thm files for thumbnails, and also there is information included in EBOOT files for games to have this functionality.
I have tried a few things, i.e. renaming the extension of a MP4 encoded in the resolution for a thumbnail from .mp4 -> .thm but nothing.
Does anyone think that maybe an ISO can be created for movies?
I would look at the file strucutre of a UMD movie disc myself and figure it out, but I dont have any. Does anyone have one they can explore using their PSP in USB mode set to the UMD drive so the file structure of the movie can be revealed?
This way we could possibly find out what information needs to be included to have BG images, BG sounds and movie thumbs? =o)

tehy do its still a work in progress because u cant compress them so its rather annoying having 1.6 gb of one movie take up ur memory stick.

get a 4 gig, compress the game, rip the music and put in ur own (With the music plugin). that can get it down to maybe 750 approximatley.

With the putting your own music in, do you actually put the music into the game or play it while playing the game? I havnt tried it out yet (The music plugin).
Tried compressing the game but then for some reason you cant switch episodes (7 episodes with different tasks in each one).
You press the R button to switch episode and the letters just go bigger and smaller but it doesnt switch episode.
I heard a few people have had this problem unless it was just a bad rip ;)

So it is possible to compile your own iso for movies and have a custom BG, sound file, and movie thumbnail?

No you cant, only .thm files can be added, and for that to work, it needs to go in the MP_ROOT folder with the movie.

opk but cant you just replace ICON0 and PIC1 and that would not be a problem at all.
