Wii 2.0U and want a WiiKey

Should I update my original Wii (presently at 2.0U) to the current OS online before I install my WiiKey? Or should I just leave it as is. I don't play online much, and I don't want trouble with the WiiKey.

Is it better to leave it as is (with 2.0U) or update to current. If I can update, should I update BEFORE I wire up the WiiKey or after?
