Alright kind of a weird sitch. I recently bought a system from a private owner who had fixed the laser issue and then sold it off. My wife wasn't thinking and put in a backup dvd for me to watch (couldn't play backups at all on xbox with mods) and it worked perfectly.

Does the 360 come stock that way? I tried more than one backup and it worked great, so its not a fluke. Just got it, so i haven't looked into the specs and how to check if its been setup for this, so i thought i would try to eliminate the possibilities.

From those who have messed with these, is that normal or would it seem that its been modded/flashed?

meant to say that an original xbox that was stock wouldn't play a backup of any kind, so i assumed the 360 would be the same.
