Help Connecting my Xbox 360 Premium Pro w/HDMI to my LCD Monitor???

1. Alright well I want to know if anyone could help me decide whether or not to run my xbox 360 through DVI or VGA?? How do I connect it??
Which is better??

2. How do I get sound when I connect the cord for video since my monitor does not have built in speakers??


I have the following:


New Xbox 360 Premium Pro with the HDMI Port

and

The Monitor has VGA & DVI Ports.


Please any and all help is appreciated.

Hi,

Buy a HDMI to DVI cable and that's the video sorted. They are expensive in stores/shops but not online.

For sound, I would by a surround sound amp/speaker set with an optical input and connect your console with an optical lead. On my console (without HDMI socket) it plus into the video lead so it may be different for you but it will be there somewhere. Just look at the setup information.

You could go analogue (red & white phono leads) to any powered speakers but it is not nearly as good sound in old fashioned stereo!

My console is connected to a 42" LCD at 1080i and sound is through a Yamaha home theatre amp/surround sound system and it is amazing!

What if I tried this

Here is what I have:

Xbox 360
Componet Cables
PC Speakers
Monitor

Then 3 cords are needed which are:
Video
1. DVI to HDMI adapter/Cable
(which goes from the monitor dvi port to the dvi apater or the dvi slot from the 360 to the monitor either or)

Sound
2. Connect the componet cables that came with the 360 (red and white) from the back of the system to a RCA 3.5mm 1/8? Mini Plug Y adapter (male=no hole for speakers)

3. Then connect the End of the 3.5mm Mini Plug to a 3.5 mm to 3.5mm Coupler Adapter Female Jack and then just simply connect the speakers to the opposite end of the couple. and then just power everything on. Complete.
