I am trying to learn a bit of basic Java programming (creating MIDlets for mobile apps). My crappy old phone won't run them and it's a bit boring just using the Sun WTK emulator so I wondered if there is a way of running them on the PSP. Has anyone done a homebrew PSP Java mobile type runtime environment?

At this stage I'm not thinking of writing anything specific I just want to be able to get MIDlets to run on the PSP. Basically because I just want to see a program I wrote run on the PSP (I know, childish but hey) and there's no way in hell I'm ever going to have enough knowledge of the system to write code at machine level! Java is a nice, non-platform specific language, which would seem perfect for us lesser mortals to write homebrew with.
Considering the complexity of some of the other homebrew available I'd have thought porting a basic Java run time environment would be child's play to some of the whizz kids out there!
