system software 3.71 m33, downloaded both games, metal gear made it to the 1st cut scene while syphon actually played past a few levels, both games just went black and died. is it a problem with my psp or with the games i downloaded, and how can i fix it? Thanks in advance

Thanks for moving. Other games work perfectly, it just puzzles me that every single game that is over 1gb does not work, but everything smaller than 1gb works perfectly.

dont bother with mgs1 when you get to the part with phsyco mantis you cant defeat him because on the ps1 you had to switch controller ports so that he didnt know what you was going to do!!! i was gutted i love the game if you suss it out let me know

Check to see if your Memory Stick is MagicGate supported.

Go to Game Menu Memory Stick and press Triangle. A sidebar will come out. Choose information and check under the MagicGate listing and see what it says.

If it says unknown or unsupported then the issue more then likely is a fake memory Stick.

To me it sounds like this could be the issue since you say games under 1GB will work fine but any above 1GB has issues. This is a common problem with some fake Memory Sticks.

there is a way to beat psycho mantis. using the second controller port was the easy way out.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .
