PS1 Eboot Problem

I was on 3.52-3 and my PS1 eboots worked fine. I upgraded to 3.71-2 and they eboots will only load to the warning screen then just a plain black screen with the home button unresponsive, requiring a hard reset. Thanks for all your help in advance. If there is a similar thread, please redirect me, I didn't see any within the search.
