brought a psp a couple of months ago. i'm interested in putting cfw on it, brought a battery online. But heard that some are fakes. Wondering is there a way to test the battery, and if not good will it brick my psp because it's not right. I have 3.51 ofw on it right now. my apologies is this question is in the wrong area or has been asked a million times already. thx 4 any replies

To find out if its a fake or incompatible run pandoras battery creator on a phat PSP with 1.50 or CFW and it will come up with error 0x26 or error 0x25

If the battery is a 3600mAH it's a fake, if the writing is all just printed on then it's a fake, if it is hard for the battery to be taken out of the PSP it's probably fake.

As chwoolgar said, and the only propper way to prove it's fake; if there is an error code given at the start of the Battery Creator then it is a fake and can't be used as a Pandora. Some fakes can however be used as Pandoras, it just depends how they're made.

I am assuming that you have a battery thats already been "pandorarized"? If so then plug your memorystick into a compter and run this program and do the appropriate steps to prepare your memorystick for use with the Pandora battery. Afterwards insert first the memorystick and then the battery into the PSP. It should automatically bring up a menu which from there you should know what to do.

the battery looks just like the original except that it's a little darker than my original sony, i have no problem putting it in or taking it out. I put it in without the memory stick and it turned on by itself, but the screen stayed black, (in fact I left in my original memory stick in) so how does it sound so far? I've yet to put in the magic memory stick! does it seem legit to u so far?!

@knfusd

If you have another battery I would use that while upgrading to a custom firmware that way if you brick you still have your pandora battery. Or if this is not a option start the PSP with the battery out and the power cord in and then after it is completely on insert the battery.

No. What I meant was that you should have a total of two batteries, the pandora battery and the standard battery. Yes the regular battery is fine for upgrading and whatever else you please. I said what I did earlier because I know someone who downgraded to 1.5 via Pandora battery, converted the battery back to normal, and then tried to upgrade were they then bricked because there battery fell out and they didn't have the charger plugged in. So there they were no Pandora battery and a freshly bricked PSP. Thats why I said what I did, so that wouldn't happen to you. But since you already have the standard battery anda pandora its a moot point.
