I had a friend put in a wiikey in. I pluged in my wii turned it on and it stays at a black screen. The disc spins the laser lights up and moved but ... nothing. I removed the wiikey and still nothing. Could my drive be dead or does it go further? I am hoping I didn't mess up the bios but that the only thing I can think of. I have read a few post on this topic but nothing really has been said as far as a solution. Any input would be great : ). Otherwise I will have to go to walmart and claim I lost my receipt lol :P

Perhaps your friend messed up your Wii. Don't forget to think simply first before you do anything drastic, and check your output cables and your television. Try starting up your Wii without a disc in it.

I tryed booting without the disc I also tryed booting without the drive pluged in. Still had the same problem. I checked my cables with my friends wii, they worked fine. will the wii boot without the drive hooked up or is that part of a the wii's protection? There is what looks like a uv chip on the drive. Does anyone know what that chip does and is it a uv chip?
