Hey everyone, I need some help. I just got my ps2 magic swap and swap tool. When I was finally able to figure out how to use the tool I tried the game Killzone first. It worked fine. But when I started trying some of the other games I downloaded and burned a while ago they didn't work. I would put them in, and sometimes I heard a clicking noise, but not always. After that it would jump straight to the screen that says that the disc I have inserted is not a valid PS2 disc. The screen has like a red cloud in the background. I am using Verbatim DVDs, I hear that they are good. The first few ps2 games I burnt I burned at max speed. then I read that its better to do a low speed. Well, it doesn't matter what speed I burnt them at, none work except for Killzone which was burnt at max, 16x i believe.

lets me guess you have a fat ps2. usually the screen >>no data,insert playstation 2 format disk .or disk cannot be read..try opening up your ps2 and adjust the lazer (thats what the clicking noise is about :)adjust the little screw on the side or spin the white wheel (if it has one) and test it out. easiest way to do this is take apart your ps2.1 take lid of 2 take inner tray lid off then try disk as u adjust lazer (do this while the ps2 is pluged in ) after adjustment you will get a little more out of your ps2 but not much.alsocleaning the lazer with rubbing alcohol and a que tip wont hurt......

Alright thanks, I will give that a go. You implied that this will help my ps2 a bit but not much. Is the ps2 pretty much dead?

if you adjust the laser and clean it you will get a little more life out of your ps2 :)

I have personally taken apart 2 fat ps2s to clean the laser, and adjusted the cogwheel. It works fine ever since.
