I'm confused about the difference between the the new 40 gig, 60 gig and 80 gig version.
I just want to confirm this stuff...
40 gig has no card readers, less usb ports, and can't play old games.
60 and 80 gig are the same except that the 60 gigs can play all the ps and ps2 games out of the box, but the 80 gig uses an emulator to play the games, so it may not work on all games.
The one store by me has a deal that the 60 and 80 are the same price, but the you get any free game with the 60gig or you can get motorstorm with the 80 gig.
Questions are here:
Is there any advantage to the 80 gig beside the extra hard drive space?
No theres no advantage to the 80gig besides HDD space, personally id perfer the emotion chip to a measly 20 more gigs of space. And as for the 40 gig its all speculation because it asnt been releaced yet.
the 60gb is the original so there for sony will not mak 1 better than it, they will always make 1 different, all the versions besides the 60gb are crap

They're not "crap" though the 60 gig is the better because of the emotion chip. They all have they're ups and downs, the 80 gig is 500 the 60 gig with a pack is also like 500 and the 40 gig is 350. They all have the same gaming power the only diff really being the ability to play ps2 games and hard drive size for whatever that counts for.
I thought the 40gig dosnt have wireless also? got bluetooth for the controllers, but no wireless for internet connection and networking? could be very wrong though, wouldnt be the first time :oD
The 40gb PS3 isnt speculation its out already,Sony ripped of the UK PS3 60gb owners by leaving out the components for the PS2,meaning that it has to run them through emulating and there is only about 10% of PS2 games that work on it.
The best version of the PS3 is the American 60gb one it has the PS2 compponents built in and plays about 70% of the games
If you go to the official Playstation site it will give you information on all three versions

The percentages are not that far of,the percentage of games that work fine without glitches or errors is very small, say between 3 to 5 hundred out of about 2 thousand titles that do work at all.
Dont forget that there is 20 thousand+ ps2 titles out there, this is the percentages for the UK ps3
As for the American 60gb model im not sure, possibly Sony have fixed it but at release it could only play about 60% of ps2 games.
