Hi everyone, need to get some DVD+/-R's and have come across a 100pk tuff disc 8x for around £12. I want to use them for PS2 backups, and was wondering if any other members have used them? It's either them or a 50pk of vertabims for a pound less. Bear in mind I'm kinda broke so the cheaper option soudns appealing. But if they won't even play then it's no point. Any opinions, reviews? Oh and I saw the review by cd-rw.org, they said they were "surprise spindles" so a all sorts of manufacturers could be found in a single spindle. Any good or not?

A5hX- while I'm not very familiar with burning Ps-2 Backups I mainly back up my movies ! I would err on the side of caution and go with verbatim Vs. The unknown TuffDisc were it me !

I've heard bad things about Tuff disc. Simply because you never know what brand of media you'll get. If you are going to use any type of DVD in a PS2 please, for the sake of your laser and its L.A., chip use only Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. I fried my PS2's L.A. chip from putting too much strain on the laser when it was trying to read a crappy disc. I only use first class media these days in my consoles and stand alone players.

lol You guys will be happy to hear I tracked down a bargain here in the UK: a 100pk of Verbatims DVD-R for £19.99! Needless to say I will be snapping them up today.
Also on another site, they were offering a 100pk of TY's for £26 inc p&p. Good discs it's just why spend the extra £6 when the verbs will do just fine (i hope!).

A5hX- Taiyo Yudens & Verbatims are Regarded as the best of the best media wise ! and being you show the prices in £'s as opposed to $ US - you may even get the best of Both worlds ? Verbatims made By taiyo Yuden -for Verbatim !!! Like Creaky Does ! Either way I don't think you'll go wrong !!!- here's a link from the esteemed creaky- good luck !!!!

Hiyas! I don't know about Tuff 8x discs but I recently bought TuffDisc 16x DVD+R packet... and I heard they are mainly print-ons on dvds of pretty crappy quality. So far I have tried burning them with many different options and settings and I aggree: the dvds are crappy.

Then, I decided to break a dvd. And guess what I found between the dye/coating layers: "Is it live or is it Memorex" and the Memorex dvd logo... LOL
