After watching some of the 360's game play demos for it and reading some interviews with some NFS rep's it looks like they've finally managed to kill off their floundering street racing series.
Don't get me wrong I loved NFSU and NFSU2 wasn't too bad either but NFS Carbon was a disgrace and with this new one proving to be basically Gran Turismo with more appearance customization I don't see them making another game if it turns out their realistic "new aged" street racing turns out to be a flop.
Judging by some of the in game messages it appears that they were pressured by some organizations who think this is the sole reason people street race they got forced into this legal street racing setup. Personally I think with this they will loose their entire arcade style racing following and as Ive said earlier this will more than likely be the straw that breaks the horse's back.
yea they took out every thing i used to no need for speed for now its some kid safe game its just stupid now the controls are sad the attitude in game sucks now it just sucks how they ruined such a good game
Im glad they got out of night racing for one, whats the point of having all those nice shiny graphics to have them faded to black so you cant see them! im gutted the diddnt include cops though, that was half the fun, they need to go back the High Stakes 2 concept! that is still the best Need for Speed i have played!
I see your point about the night time thing, but i kinda liked the way the street lights made the car look almost when u drove by it just shined amazingly even on NFSU1.
Personally, I liked the NFS series because of the cop chases. I'm not really into racing games, but there are a few I like. I liked the NFS series up to Underground, Flatout, and MX vs. ATV. In fact, Underground is the only racing game I've ever finished.
I don't care how "authentic" the car I'm driving feels, just as long as the graphics are good and the gameplay is fun. I want a little more interaction than just racing down the road.
I played the Pro Street demo, and it looks good. But I think that's all it offered... flat out racing. I heard the police sirens in the intro music but I don't think there's going to be any.
I agree, NFS has been screwed up since NFS:Carbon. I miss the good Need for Speed days like the first and second one. And Need for Speed: Hotpursuit was good too. They need to go back to the roots of the game, like the nice level designs, trains going by as you race, the fun police chases, etc....you know the way it used to be. These developers never seem to amaze me how they run good franchises into the ground because they're trying to bank off of the name. They could learn something from Capcom who took the Resident Evil series and reinvented it, into something very good! I don't think i'll be waisting my money on NFS: Pro whatever..especially since theres no police chases in it. :(
