i am trying to locate PIONEER DVR-111D from any online merchant but i am not able to find one. i found couple of websites selling them but they seem dodgy and untrusted.

could someone please help me locate one asap.

if you want to back up originals then get the Samsung SH-D162C drive flashed with Kreon firmware on Ebay. Then you can burn them with the Sony drive. That is assuming you have an open IDE slot in your PC so you can run dual drives.

i have everything and i have been doing it for a while now. but with the amount of verbatim dvd DL's wasted due to the sony not being able to bookmark the disc as dvd rom. it bookmarks it as dvd+r dl. this is causing me trouble as in most cases i have to try many times until the xbox reads it.

the games that i were lucky enough that the sony did bookmark as dvd-rom work perfectly from the first time i insert the disk in to xbox 360.

my only hope for stopping throwing expensive disc's out is to buy a pioneer dvr 111d. if anyone knows where i can find one i will be very thankful to you

Well that confuses me a little. A burner can either booktype or it can't. And if set to booktype the media it should do it every time. The only problem that i find with some Sony burners is they are not actually made by Sony. Like the one i have was a DRU-710A and was actually a Lite-On burner.

That is why i chucked it and bought a BenQ DW1655 which has been fantastic. And you use a program called Qsuite 2.0 which once you set it to booktype the DVD+R DL to DVD-Rom it does it every time in every burning program automatically.

But to answer your question so you get what you want:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...cription=27-129

look down the page and they have one for about $20 and i have used Newegg.com for thousands of dollars worth of product.

and here is where i buy all my media and they have it too:

steimy you are THE KING, thanks alot man. without you i would have struggled for god knows maybe days or months

the sony i got doesnt support to write dvd+r DL as dvd-rom, but i found out a trick somewhere on the net that did help me alot and i had a good success rate with it, but now since i upgraded to a vista laptop my success rate has lowered to less than 25%, if i am lucky i can get the game to work from 2nd or 3rd disc i burn. that trick doesnt seem to work with the Sony burner using vista.

Sony burner i am using is actually built by Benq, but i better sell it to get a reliable Pioneer 111D.

Once again, thank you very much, you're the greatest.

The problem could just be with Vista and not the burner then. Hopefully you can get it sorted out. I had a similar situation so i feel your pain. I had to reformat my PC and before that time i had a 100% success rate. After the format i could not get it to back up a game without errors. But after reinstalling all my programs and getting all of my windows updates it just went back to working 100% again.

Personally i much prefer Windows XP Pro over vista right now. If you are not a PC gamer then there is really no reason to switch to Vista. Some games now and a lot of future games for PC will be Vista only. Other than that XP has a lot more compatibility with your programs and drives then Vista does. Plus Vista tends to be a resource hog so if your not running a good processor with about 2GB of RAM in your PC it may be causing you some burning problems.

The reason the drive may be out of stock is if it is an out of date model. Like if the 112D replaced it the 111D will get harder and harder to find.
