i know ixtreme is used if your planning on going on live, which im not planning on.. but i figured i might as well do the ixtreme flash instead just in case down the road ya know..

A)yes and no,this depends on what firmware you have
if you have the ixtreme,then you need to patch iso's even if you are not planning on going online
If you are definetly not using the 360 for online play,then the extreme firmware is for you (iso's dont need patching)
I am only planning on making backups of games I own. I am using a samsung sh-d162c to rip and a pioneer 112D to burn.. Ripping ill use "xbcreator 2.4" and to burn "imgburn"... I am also planning on burning either the "iso" OR the "dvd" file...
2 QUESTIONS:::::::::::
Regardless is the TRUE, DO i need to patch my backup games when using ixtreme firmware as opposed to "xtreme" firmware???????????
And 2nd (and if this applies), what if you ARE burning only the "DVD" file as opposed to the "ISO" file, does this still require patching if using "ixtreme" firmware???
Heck to save me from having to "patch" my backed up originals, ill just go with xtreme firmware huh???
If you back up your own games, then there is no need to patch them as the .iso file will already be stealth. The .dvd file is only an information file to tell the burning program where to insert the layerbreak and the name of the .iso it needs to burn. If you manually set your layerbreak in IMGBurn then you don't need to burn the .dvd file as you already set that info up.
The only feature the ixtreme firmware has over the old one (xtreme 5.3 for samsungs and 2.4 for hitachis are the old ones) is that it will not boot a game disc that is not stealth patched.
wait a minute i think i answered my own question... my samsung SH-D162C came with KREON already installed and i understand when ripping with (for example xbc 2.4) the drive rips the games and "patches" them as well in the process...... Is this correct???????
ok method #1 (put blank Verbatim DVD+R DL disc in burner)
After setting the booktyping go to mode and click on write.
Click on the first folder beside source and browse for the DVD file in the folder you made.
Set the burn speed at eitrher 2.4X of 4X if you use 6X max discs.
not hit the button at the bottom with the picture of the disc and burn it.
method #2 is by burning the ISO file. For this you must move the DVD file out of the folder to your desktop because IMGburn by default will always make you use it.
I wish .dvd files were never made. They only work right with CloneCD anyway.
It does NOT matter which file you burn as long as the burning program you use has the layer break set to 1913760. If IMGBurn defaults to using the .dvd file, so be it. It'll still work.
Once you get more into the scene, you'll realize that it's useless worrying about the .dvd file
