Hello, this is for the people who have Custom Firmwares
If you have Custom Firmware 1.50--- up to 3.40 OE-A
this will work for you. Sony 1.50 original firmware works just as well

I recommend all the noobs out there that's asking " how do i upgrade my psp, what's the best version, etc.." 3.52 M33-4 is your BEST BET because its more stable and has more customizing options.

Let's proceed...

First download this file;
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1215

Turn on your PSP and connect to pc, via; USB mode

Now.. Open the psp file i just linked you, it should extract itself, into desktop then open the file that says PSP Upgrader/downgrader.

Select your Firmware (if it's OE/LE, enter OE/LE, if its a official sony firmware below 3.53, enter that (but Im not too sure it will work on official sony firmwares(except for 1.50) because of the lumines, gta exploit.)

after you entered your Firmware, enter your Target Firmware (the firmware you want to go to ). And like i said, i recommend 3.52M33 because of more stability and more customizations, I'm sure 3.71 m33-2 will be gold as time progresses :)

Now, leave your internet on, as it will download the necessary files to upgrade your psp.

when it's finished, exit usb mode, go to Your memory card and find Kxplot permanent patcher, then exit, (*NOTE* if you don't find kxplot permanent patcher, don't worry, you can skip this step),
Now FIND 3.52 m33 creator, click x, and it will update the files, exit when done, then find 3.52 m33 update, click x, when its finished press x to shutdown psp, turn on PSP and you are now ON 3.52 M33

Now.. go to your memory card, and find a folder that says m333 in red, and has a calender in the background when you view it, click that and it should update itself to 3.52 m33-2

Now.. to go to 3.52m33-3 download this file
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1229

download and extract, and you will see 2 prime files
SEPLUGINS and a PSP FOLDER.

now turn usb mode on from psp, and go to the root of your memmory stick (the place where all the files is when you double click Removable Drive (w/e your drive is)

drag the SEPLUGINS into the root, (NOT IN A FOLDER, ON THE ROOT)
it will ask you if you want to move and replace all files, click YES TO ALL.

Now.. your psp Kernel should have already be set to 1.5, if it's not, set it in the Recovery menu (holding R while turning PSP)

now open your game150 folder (if you do not have one, then you must format your mem stick or just create one after you double click PSP

now, open the file (the one you downloaded with the link i gave you)
PSP/GAME150 and you should see a 3.52m33update file, cut/copy it then paste it in your PSP/GAME150 folder.

now exit usb mode, go into game memory and find the update patch file m333 (with a calender in the background) and click x to open it.

Let it update the files, then press X to shutdown, turn your psp back on and BAAAM ! you're on 3.52 m33-3

Here's the download link to 3.52m33-4 update patch
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1231

do the same method as you were for 3.52m33-3 update patch and BAAAAAAAAAM, you're on 3.52m33-4 (the god version to be on).

thank you all for reading, and good luck, if you have any problems, i will help you if needed.

I posted this on a diff category, so just putting it in the right place

Sorry, but bad guide because 3.40 OE is well dated now and the easy installers take shorter time to install the firmware than it does to read this guide.

You don't need to go from 3.52 M33 and add Update 2 then 3 then 4. After you update to 3.52 M33 just go directly to update 4 and run it. There is no need to do the update 2 and 3 steps.

Plus 3.71 M33-2 is just as customizable and stable as 3.52 M33-4 is.

Other then that nice guide.

why do you feel the need to always drop worthless posts? not sure what you were trying to say about 3.40 OE but this winstaller is on 3.52 m33 4 so please spare our time and eyes from your posts that do nothing but take up space.

and yes i know my post is also pointless but i just had to let you know.

coolndre, yeah great guide. this is good for all the lazy people out there. i am one of them.

Problems that i found with this post that i though would be misleading to newbies:

1) Why re-release an old CFW when there are easy installers anyway? Surely an easy installer would be better for a newbie than doing it manually.

2) He has only specified that it works with 1.50 - Quote: "Im not too sure it will work on official sony firmwares(except for 1.50) because of the lumines, gta exploit"
Would newbies even know about this exploit and it doesnt say which firmwares the exploit is even for. So overall this guide so far only works with 1.50.

3) The file with the calender in the background isnt the 3.52 M33 installer it is actually only the #4 Update.

4) He has said drag files to MS root and overwrite all. Newbies wont know if this is just about to overight game saves and it doesnt say to take a backup of the MS.

5) You dont have to go from 3.52 M33-2 to 3.52 M33-3 to 3.52 M33-4 you can just go straight from 3.52 M33 up to 3.52 M33-4

Also, there is plenty of guides already released and stickied so why release another?

answering chwoolgar's questions;

#1) The reason i am writing this guide is because of my recommendations and experiences with the 3.52m33-4 firmware, SURE, it's a old firmware and I KNOW there are 3.71 m33-2 guides but in my opinion it's the best one out and IT SHOWS YOU STEP BY STEP on how to install it.

#2)If you also read ALL THE WAY AT THE TOP it says quote
"If you have Custom Firmware 1.50--- up to 3.40 OE-A
this will work for you. Sony 1.50 original firmware works just as well ", I know i didn't list the firmwares of which exploits are there that's why i stated that it will MOSTLY WORK FOR custom firmware 1.50---3.40OE-A And for 1.50 original Sony Firmware, read closer next time

#3) Did i say the file with the m33 calender in the background was an installer? i stated that click on that and it will update itself

#4) all it says is drag the seplugins folder to the root of the memory stick and click yes to replace and move all files, i presume every one can understand that.

#5)i know you don't have to go from 3.52m33- 3.52m33-2-3-4,
but i just find it more safer.

It's ok if you don't like my guide, but to all the people who have 3.40OE-A or have 1.50 firmwares, it can be useful to them.

I'm sorry if i created a easy step by step guide for upgrading to 3.52m33-4, i will delete my own thread if you wish it is not helpful to other.

Good luck, have fun and enjoy your day

Your right CoolnDre

but thanks for the guide..it answered many questions i had about these 2 CF

You keep saying you made an easy step by step guide. Well the easiest would be to get rid of update 2 and 3 and just update from 3.52 M33 straight to 3.52 M33-4.

There is no issue at all with safety when it comes to going from 3.52 M33 straight to 3.52 M33-4. It is 100% safe to go directly to update 4 and it is easier as well rather then updating to 2, 3 then 4.

You have a right to post a guide but expect feedback from others as well when you do. It is just pointless to have them install update 2 and 3 its as simple as that.

Plus you don't need the kernel mode set to 1.50 when placing the updates into the GAME150 folder. GAME150 folder uses 1.50 kernel always. The only effect 1.50 and 3.52 kernel mode in recovery menu has is for the GAME folder itself.

This guide uses an easy installer to do that. But I never recommend easy installers. I would rather know whats being placed on my PSP.

If you want an easy guide go HERE and follow the steps to go from an OE version to 3.52 M33-4 (No easy installers are used in my guide)

Or go HERE and use the Universal Unbricker/Upgrader which will install straight to 3.71 M33-2 (This uses the PSP only to create the Universal memory Stick plus Pandora Battery. No mspformat/msipl command lines need to be run on PC).

Nice guide COOLnDRE, i use to be 3.30OE-A firmware and followed your tips exactly and now im on 3.52m33-4 THANK you so MUCH !!

oh and rogdrik, you're asking help to upgrade to 3.52m33 while this guide explains it all -.- you're funny

laryje guide is good, but i personally like this one better because it's more informative and has a easy installer, which isn't that bad, you just gotta follow instructions.

The easy installer is above in COOLnDRE guide. Yes once your at 3.52 M33 just run the M33-4 update. No need to run update 2 and 3.

I came here to read this guide and walked right in the middle of a jerry springer show. COOLnDRE: larrylje and chwoolgar are right this is a fairly long guide and the reason is due to useless steps.

Phat PSP 1->MS Slot Dead.RIP
PSP SLIM->3.60->3.71->And with a lil bit of MAGIC->3.71M33->3.71M33-2->3.71M33-3->3.90M33->3.90M33-2->4.01M33-2
