I'm new to the 360. I have done the swap disc for the PS2. My 360 has a chip in it. I'm trying to backup some of my game because my kids are scratching the games. I'm trying to back-up them up and no luck. I have imgburn and xbox backup creator. I read the forum and can't find how to do it. I also tried to use Schtrom360Xtract but it tell me that I have error that I can't extract from original game. Please help

what you want to do is look into your computer(if you do not already know) and see if you have slots to add another DVD drive (either IDE or SATA). Then go to Ebay and buy one of these Samsung DVD-Rom drives flashed with Kreon firmware and install it into your PC.
SH-D162C for the IDE style (large grey ribbon cable)
SH-D163A for the SATA style (usually a red or blue small cable)

Those drives will making backing up your original discs a snap compared to the method above. here is the steps.

1. stick original disc in Samsung DVD-Rom drive and open Xbox Backup Creator
2. click on tools tab and click unlock drive
3. click on read tab and hit start
there you have just ripped the game and it is a perfect stealth copy.

Burning.
1. Open IMGburn (freeware)
2. Set the layer break (one time only then it will stay)
Tools-->settings-->write-->layer break. Check user specified and set it to 1913760. Click ok and burn as normal.
3. Set your burning speed and burn the disc

there, your done.

If by chance you have no slots you could buy the IDE style drive and a USB enclosure. Put the drive in the enclosure and use it through USB instead.

Wow that is very easy. That is a great reason to buy one of those drives. Just the fact that the games come out stealth is a big plus.

You have just convinced me to buy one. This isn't my post but thanks for the input.

what version of Kreon should it have? does it matter?

there are two on ebay one with .80 and the other with 1.0

there are two different drives and each has Kreon. I think the SATA is 8.0 and the IDE version is 8.1
but anything in that range will work and if you find an update online flashing a DVD drive with new firmware is a simple one click executable file that will do it for you.

But yes, this drive will save you a ton of headaches when backing up original discs. I bought one the minute i knew i was buying a 360.

the new firmware used to hack the 360 is designed not to play games that are not patched with the .ss/.dmi/pfi file or stealth files. reason for this is because microsoft detects games that are not patched and will ban your console from xbox live.

if you don't plan on going on xbox live then use the old firmware and you won't have to worry about patching your games as it will play them. please remember you should not go online or you will be banned.
