I currently have it sitting on the carpet which I see now is not a good idea. With that said would it be ok for me to simply put it on top of the box it came in to get better ventalation?? Any other ideas or suggetstions?

get a MILK crate at the dollar store or WALMART... something

that allows air to flow underneath the console.... or if you are

cheap use like 2 shoe boxes and put the 360 in between the boxes

you get the drift..... main thing is keep it in an open area

and off the carpet... Few of my friends kept theres on the

carpet and when I opened them up... Full of Dirt.. I mean lots

of dirt... Hope this helps...

yeah, the above are some good ways. I personally use VCR tapes as they are sitting around the house. And hey, who uses a VCR anymore anyway, LOL.

But one or two of those and it will be off he carpet. And because they have a small surface area there will be very little of the 360 case touching any other surface. And that reduces the amount of extra heat that will build up. The more surface area your case is touching, the more heat you will get as it will heat up whatever it is sitting on which will stay warm or even hot the entire time the machine runs, and them a little after until both that surface and your machine gradually cools down.

Was meaning like take 2 old shoe boxes and put one on each side

of the console w/ open space in the middle and set it up where the

console is barely on each box...... the same as Steimy said

w/ the VCR Tapes.... it will look kinda ghetto but it will do

the trick...

yes, anything will heat up. But since a VCR tape is only about 5 inches wide and 10 inches long and are also mostly hollow light plastic they do not heat up much. And there is more area of the 360 case that is open and free then there is touching another surface to create the extra heat.
