Hi mark verbatim dvd+r and generic white top ritek some read some dont but none actually go past the gamecube icon/start screen . I will try some different media but ive tried most of the brands lol.

I read on another forum to try gcos with the gamecube controller then setup disk 1.2 ? does that sound ok ?

Thanks for replying

That's what I hear too:
1) gcos boot config 1.2
2) set all region on
4) gcos boot config 1.3

Hi all thanks for your replies, after a bit more reading and searching

WII firmware latest EU 3.xx
Burner Asus 1604p (pioneer clone)
Disks verbatim, tdk generic ritek, datawrite red, yellow, infiniti and a few other budget brands

1) with the chip connected my wii wont play originals and will pick up backups, but the backups give the "remove disk and turn off wii error message"....... possible problem the chip is still in jap/ntsc mode ???? media ???

2) with the chip disconnected the wii plays originals fine :::: if it was a short on the board due to soldering im guessing nothing would work as the short would be there whether the chip was or not ???.

Gcos:: is there a pre-made downloadable image of gcos ? the ones ive found are a bunch of files/folders

None of the bootdisks have so far worked but i still havent tried the gcos ----1.2 setup disk method (cos i cant figure out the gcos iso bit( yes i know im a bit thick))

Anyon shed some more light on this ? had any success or any of the problems i have ??

Just a bit of an update

After trawling the web for even longer than normal ive read a few peoples posts that say that the "an eror has occured press eject and turn off the wii etc etc " is a part of the blocking process in the wii 3.xx firmware, ive read again that the above process works (gcos then 1.2 wiikey update ) but as yet i am unable to get past the error message after pressing start on the gamecube icon screen so i can not confirm this ( im a noob were all this is concerned anyway and im amazingly surprised ive gotten this far lol).

A strange thing thoug my daughter was playing wii sports this afternoon and after approx 30 minutes playing she got the same message which confuses me as it is an original disk, maybe my wii is dying........

thanks for any input you can provide

Finally sorted the problem

use the gcos disk with 1.2 update inbuilt

changed the wiikit config settings to pal and turned region protection off

reboot

that was it.

Latest firmware 3.1e playing backups.
